Skyrim SE: Legacy of the dragonborn, night at museum quest CTD
I have recently installed the Legacy of the Dragonborn mod + it's alternate life version Relic Hunter. I initially had some crashes to desktop when going to specific places and thought to have fixed that by uninstalling SMIM and Skyrim Flora overhaul mods and starting a new game.

The quest has now worked perfectly fine up to the point where I have collected 300 artifacts and started the quest "Night at the Museum". At one point in the quest I have to find a painting and after i put in on display I need to go sleep in a bed in the Staff Barracks. After a short loading screen my game always crashes to desktop at this point.

I tried rearranging my load order with SSEEdit and Loot and replaying the whole quest from a save before i even started the quest but still i get the same results...

Hope someone might have a solution for me, since i fell in love with the LOTD mod and questline

Here is my load order:

Do you use LOOT to sort your load order? You can have it make a text doc of your load order thats much easer to read.

new to posting on steam community sorry, just found out how to export it from NMM

And the bright idea of deactivating your mods and reactivating them one by one didn't come to your mind, because?

i am still very new to modding and it took me a long time to get things going how i wanted them and how they were before that bug. kinda afraid that i might mess my game up in some way...

While it may not address the specific problem your having, are you using 2 weather mods? CLimates of Tamerial and Truestorms?

The worst you would do is kill your current save file, unless you really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ your mods ups already and Skyrim is slowly dieing inside.

My advice would be back up your current vital saves, then do what kitten said and turn them all off, then on one by one until the crash starts happening again.

If the crash still happens without mods, you've already killed Skyrim and need a clean install.

If you should need a clean install (and hopefully you won't - that should only be as a last resort), see the following:

Please follow my advice before you potentially kill your save file.

hmmm seems that my game really is broken..
tried deactivating all mods and now it says "this save file is corrupt and can no longer be loaded"
been trying to find the mod that needs to be activated in order to run. once i even managed to get back ingame in a rather recent save, but i still couldn't finish the quest without crash to desktop...

You cannot deactivate/uninstall most mods mid-playthrough. You must go back to a save made prior to the installation of those mods, or start a new game.

And when you test, it must be on a clean save or new game

hmmm so why did i get the advice to uninstall all my mods and reactivate them 1 by 1 till i found the error to fix a quest bug when doing that messes up the whole game....

that means that there is no way now to retrieve my old saves and game ?
