Does unarmed work on harder difficulties?
I'm playing skyrim again for the survival and I've pretty much played everystyle except for unarmed.

You might need to resto-loop to get the pugilist enchant up enough to make it available on master+ but ya it works.

whats the maximum dmg bonus you can get from fortify unarmed combat? I'm thinking of using destruction magic and restoration magic.

Not sure on the maximum, It all depends on how much you exploit the resto-loop glitch. It should be able to give you gloves that one-shot anything(not recommended). I recommend getting the enchantment comparable to a dual-enchanted smithed weapon. So close to 300 damage should be alright for a master playthrough.

Destruction is pretty lackluster on higher difficulty unless built for it, if you're going unarmed I don't know how useful it will be for you. Restoration is a good choice though. If you are not using smithing you might want to get alteration so that you can get Dragonhide eventually. Even with the 80% damage mitigation you'll still be getting hit hard and often with how close you need to be. Magic resist is almost essential as well. Not just for mages but for dragons but high level draugr too.

Thanks for your help mate. How does the restoration glitch work?

Requirements:

At least one item that has the Fortify Alchemy enchantment.
Several items that can be enchanted with the Fortify Alchemy enchantment.
Several soul gems for enchanting
Ingredients for 10 -15 Fortify Restoration potions (any 2 of the 5):

Abecean Longfin, Cyrodilic Spadetail, Salt Pile, Small Antlers, Small Pearl

Ingredients for 4-10 Fortify Enchanting potions (any 2 of the 4):

Blue Butterfly Wing , Hagraven Claw, Snowberries, Spriggan Sap

Process:
1. Put on the Fortify Alchemy item/s
2. Create a Fortify restoration potion.
3. Drink Fortify restoration potion

4. Remove Fortify Alchemy and put it back on.
Repeat steps 2– 4 several times or until Fortify Alchemy level does not increase.

5. Craft enough Fortify Enchanting potions to enchant the next batch of enchanted items.
6. Go to the Arcane Enchanter and Disenchant fortify Alchemy item to learn the enchantment.
7. Take the potion to fortify Enchanting
8. Enchant item with fortify Alchemy enchantment
Repeat 7-8 until all new items are enchanted.

You will also need to the gloves of the pugilist http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Gloves_of_the_Pugilist_(Skyrim), which are found in the Ratway. These gloves are the only item in the game that has Fortify unarmed. Also I Recommend khajiit as your race, while pointless later on it will make your early game easier as they have a +15 bonus to unarmed damage.

Have you considered getting the Ordinator mod? adds a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of perks accross all trees, and makes unarmed actually viable without having to use glitches (and moves it from heavy to light armor in terms of the perks to use it).
And imerious on top to shake up races, will even further enhance khajits unarmed as well, by adding scaling with stamina instead of a flat unarmed bonus (as well as some other things)

Ordinator makes a lot of poor choices like this. Especially for the magic perks. All the new concepts are TERRIBLE.

What they needed was to drastically increase damage and magicka regeneration. They needed to get rid of the BS robes and staff crap which makes no sense from an immersive or realistic standpoint as staffs are just soul gems with limited charges that are guaranteed to be weaker than the magic from a strong mage and every mage would wear heavy armor in real life. Instead they go full 180 in the wrong direction.

The alteration and summoning trees are especially bad, the restoration school is beyond stupid. Poison in restoration tree? That's just dumb. Alteration and summoning requiring you to use magic in one hand and a weapon in the other? Uh, no. That's stupid. So many of those perks are just poorly thought out.

When you look at the fact that there are a lot of new perks you get excited. But when you see all the new perks and realize how stupid and poorly thought out and unworkable they are you get extremely disappointed. Honestly the base Skyrim perks are better than Ordinator.

The only good perk from Ordinator is Pillar of Earth because it is hilarious.

An unarmed run is pretty easy on legendary dificulty, dragons also die really easy with marked for death shout and venison stew or vegetable soup, as you can keep left+right click power attacking non stop from the stamina regeneration.

youll need the following:

kajhitt: gets a bonus to unarmed with claws.

heavy armor perk: do your gauntlet's BASE rating, in damage. get a pair of dragonbone to help this along. (smithing will have no effect)

gloves of the pugilist enchantment: in riften, disenchant and enchant your gauntlets.

as others said above, you'll definitely need to fortify-resto loop this enchantment if you're playing on legendary.

you may also look into the "dual wield" shout, if i remember right it will also speed up your 3 punch attack.

Ring too, FYI. I think each get to a magnitude of +12 damage at 100 Enchanting.

Either that or just get some kind of Unarmed mod or a full perk overhaul that makes Unarmed scale in some fashion (Ordinator, S P E R G, TTR, etc.)
