Screen Resolution?
Hi, I tried playing the game today, but I only have the following options for screen resolution:

Aspect Ratio: 16:10 Widescreen or 16:9 Widescreen
Resolutions: 800x500 or 1024x640 or 1280x800

Are these the only options they give us? I have a CRT black Dell monitor. I think it's supposed to be like 1600x1200 or something like that.

Am I out of luck?

Thanks for the help.

You didn't really answer my question, but since you mention it, I prefer the CRT to a really bright widescreen LCD thing.

You can set it manually in the skyrim.ini (the one in your documents folder, not the steam folder) but the HUD will get cut off if you don't use a 16:9 or 16:10 resolution. In your case, that would be either 1600x900 or 1600x1000. If you don't want black bars, there are UI mods and other fixes for older aspect ratios.

The Skyrim Options hud will show whatever resolutions your video card has available in your video driver control panel. You should be able to choose the highest resolution your monitor will display or whatever is best for your eyes from there. If there is a missing resolution, then you will need to manually create it in your video card driver control panel...and it will show up in the Skyrim Options hud.

To create a new resolution, google search it according to your video card.

The other option is to run Skyrim in windowed borderless mode. It will then run at the resoution of your desktop.

I found the skyrim.ini, but I am not sure which detail to modify to get it how I want.

Well my desktop is running at 1280x1024, but that is not one of the options the game gives me. And when I do borderless and windowed, it still only takes up about half of my screen.

Change these lines in SkyrimPrefs.ini:

bBorderless=0 bFull Screen=1 iSize H=1200 iSize W=1600

That helped, though I had to tinker with it a bit. I ended up doing aspect ratio 16:10 and H = 1024 W = 1280, which looks like I fits right for the most part. A little bit is cut off on the right side, that I've noticed. Thanks though!
