Serana bug on Awakening quest

I'm on the quest where you meet Serana at Dimhollow Crypt for the Dawnguard storyline. For some reason, Serana won't follow me when I ask her. All she says is "lets go" and just stands there and I can't continue the quest. I tried reverting to an earlier save, resetting her AI through the console, and skipping the quest altogether though console commands but it still doesn't work. Does anyone know a solution to this problem?

sorry I'm not more help. this bug has been around since dawnguard came out, but in the 1800+ hours I have in Oldrim I have never had this happen to me. I even had the marryable Serana mod installed and it changes her. Mmmm, something about those eyes . . . O.O >.> <.<

Yeah, in Oldrim I never had this problem and I had a ton of mods that changed npcs.

It may not work because of all the loose files that are still in your data folder, but it's worth a shot.
My pain meds have kicked in so I have to sleep. I'll check back when I get up to see if it worked.

Thanks for the help today man, I greatly appreciate it! I'll see if I can find a solution in the meantime.

Tbh, I may have to just skip the Dawnguard questline until a fix can be found or until the game gets patched. It's a little annoying to deal with the constant vampire attacks, but it's manageable.

Then you're in for a long wait, because they're not going to patch that.

you can't fast travel from inside the crypt. you have to find your way out so she can pop out lines like "This looks familiar"

"After being asked to "wait" or being dismissed as a follower, she may not have the option to follow again.

PC Only This bug is fixed by version 2.0.2 of the Unofficial Dawnguard Patch.

To bring back the "Come with me" dialogue after dismissing Serana, enter the code sqv DLC1NPCMentalModel in the console. You are given a long list of information. Scroll down the list using the up and down arrows, and make sure that the following codes: CanFollow_var = True / IsFollowing_var = True / IsWaiting_var = True / TurnOffComeWithMe_var = False / LockedIn_var = False are in order by looking at the false/true (i.e., if LockedIn_var was set to true then you need to put it to false). To do this, enter the following command: setpqv DLC1NPCMentalModel LockedIn_var False. Once you do this you should be able to recruit Serana to be your follower again.

To get Serana following again after asking her to "Wait", go somewhere far away (like inside Fort Dawnguard) and wait three to five days."

Maybe it's not exactly the issue you are having, or maybe it is. Either way, the console command instructions they've given here might be helpful.

Thank you so much! I followed your steps and I actually got Serana to follow me again! The only problem left is that Serana doesn't want to wait anywhere and the Bloodlines quest still won't start. Should I try forcing it through the console?

I know the feeling. I ended up being up and down all night because of my joint pains.
Give it a try and see what happens now. This way it will rule out if it is a game bug or caused by a mod.

I wouldn't be so sure. In my experience bug might or might not occur randomly on the same game setup from the same save file. One I can say sure: Serana is prone to stuck even on unmodded game. I did all achievements playthrough with only Unofficial Patch being installed, and it happen twice in different places. I have easily got off with tcl command. I tested loading previous saves and couldn't replicate the bug!
