Volume up/down issues
So I noticed when I use [FN] + my volume up and down controls in game it doesnt work. Easy fix is for me to [alt] + [tab] out to steam and then raise volume but that one more set of key strokes haha. Anyone else notice this?

Yeah, same here. I just crank up the volume before booting up the game just to save myself the hassle (and hopefully I remember to turn it back down :P).

Protip: You can adjust the volume if you open the steam overlay while playing.

I have a keyboard with multimedia keys.
I have a USB headset with volume buttons.
I have a Steam Controller. The Chord setup allows me to control PC volume with it.

All 3 works when I open the Overlay while play (Shift+Tab). Oldrim or Newrim.

Do you guys not have a volume knob or external speakers at all? These are laptop internal speakers I am guessing?

I have to admit I never have had this problem because I've always had a dial to turn. I'm surprised no one seems to have that kind of control; even my keyboard has a dial that acts redundantly to the other hardware dial I have. I can use both if I wanted, or either.

I set the windows volume once in a while like if the volume is specifically per application (like muting the browser and letting system sounds or winamp or something play) and then use the knob whenever I want to adjust the volume; in-game I may change the sound settings for dialogue or background music via the sound menu.

but--I guess you have to have that external speaker to begin with for any of that to help (except for the multi-media keyboard control like mine with the dial). I don't have to use the steam overlay at all to change the volume . That seems really annoying to need to do that!

haha good point. Im using razer gaming headphones, you would think a gaming company would have a volume control feature on their headphones... lol oh well looks like ill need to go get an adaptor. Thank you everyone for your input!

My volume isn't working for Skyrim. I've tried messing with the volume configurations ingame. Went back out with tab+ctrl and boosted my volume to max. Nothing's worked. It used to work. I play everything through the speakers on my monitor. I'll hear the drum at the very beginning before it all goes silent when booting up the game. But that's all.
