Two handed weapons can stagger opponents, giving you more time to strike. They also have a longer reach. If you are against somebody with a dagger; you can keep your distance and not get hit. They don't do as much damage per second as two one handed weapons, but they're far more effective against heavy armor.

so you are saying only reach and armor is an advantage... then i should use mace instead of battleaxe.

140 damage is worthless?

Yeah pretty much no point using them.

compared to a mace pretty much becuase mace allows you to have one free hand, it ignores armor, and its faster the damage isnt that far off when fully upgraded.

Historically, in battle, two handed weapons have never been as effective as one handed weapons because they leave you more vulnerable and are clunky.

Skyrim seems to ignore this is gives you some advantages to two handed weapons which don't exist in reality. However, even in the game, i dont really see an advantage to using two handed weapons. Dual weilding a one handed weapon seems the better option. Or even having a shield with which to block seems to be advantageous over two handed weapons.

But hey, this is skyrim and nords like to intimidate and a two handed weapon is intimidating.

yup good thing my two handed reached level 100 I just chose legendary mode to get my points back for one handed
Twohanded is useful if your opponent is wearing decent armour, since armour reduces damage of each strike, onehanded looses more of it's attack than twohanded, thus against a well armoured foe two handed comes into it's own.

Provided you get rid of any archers.

Which no enemy posess. You can check that with "getav damageresist" console command. Most creatures, animals and dragons included have no armor, they have perk "Reduced Damage" which acts like an armor but it's not. The only enemy with serious armor is an Ebony Warrior.
So all maces and warhammers with their perks like "Skullcrusher" are useless.

False. Damage reduction applies multiplicatively. If onehanded had a better DPS, it would still be better.

DPS is usually slower on the 2 handed handed weapons, but damage is higher. Higher level weapons do better as well.

The only real reasons two-haned is better than one-haded is better reach, and "Sweep" perk which allows to hit all targets in front of you in one swoosh.

Sweep and Become Ethereal shout work very nice together.

If you like range, use a bow. In the land of Skyrim the person who can best use the bow reigns king. :steamhappy:

Bows work the Same as dual weild for me.
Using one button to kill everything and constantly running away or chugging potions. No thanks.

With 2 handed I need to block or dodge power attacks, sprint to mages. Bash dragons to avoid being roasted and use shouts. Sure I could just make out damamge and one shot everything but I'm only perking smithing, armour and 2 handed, since I'm just a human nord.

I played a Nord archer. Never needed to use potions or anything like that. Smart placement, strategic targetting, and good aim are all you need. :steamhappy:
