Ah'vrie wishes you well. it is Middas the first of Morning Star, and we welcome in the new year at the inn. Hard to believe this one has been sweeping the floors here for so long. Ah'vrie has seen the birth of 10 years at the inn. Good food, good mead, and great friends is all an inn keeper needs... Well occasionally a mop and broom. It's been a pleasure keeping the fires stoked. Ah'vrie would like to Thank everyone for making it special. Enough, this one has fires to stoke...
Our brew of the day is No. 20. Might as well ring in the new year Nespresso's best, and it should pair well with Tate's ginger zingers. Checking the hot sheets we have 40 new mods. Let's dive right in and see what catches the eye...
RickFastly79 released Tundra Shrub Remover as a first mod. Welcome
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/137795
Not the first, but it does what it says. Thanks
akakuz released Solstheim Thalmor with Glass as a first mod. Welcome
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/137785
"This is my first mod. The mod makes Thalmor npcs in "A New Source of Stalhrim" only uses Glass items regardless of the player level. This will distinguish them from locals of Ravenrock instead of a bad fashion mixing a leather armor with Elven items." Your game your way. Why not? Thanks for sharing.
HeZijie released SFM tweak - Dress up dignifiedly and reasonablely as a first mod. Welcome
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/137766
"A small tweak to eliminate the nudity moment while switching outfits. Your followers will properly accept the equipment you give them, in a dignified way." See a... need, fill a need LOL. Thanks, nothing wrong with a little modesty
Soberrobot released Riften Honorhall Orphanage Extended as a first mod. Welcome
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/137754
"Adds an option to purchase an upgrade for Riften Orphanage after Grelod is gone which overhauls the orphanage with new areas, activities and behaviors for the orphans. For example you can play games with them or give them gifts or enable chores around the orphanage. Many of the new options can be toggled on and off to your preference."
About time It is a first mod, and a total Tardis 'upgrade' adds classrooms, training areas, a swimming pool... All underground of course. LOL. Nice first mod. Have a cookie
Lets see... Skyking Snowburst - 4K Complex Parallax Snow
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/137775
"A complete retexture for the snow landscape textures throughout Skyrim. Offered in 1k, 2k, or 4k, Snowburst features parallax and complex parallax support plus compatibility with Blended Roads, Terrain Parallax Blending Fix, and Parallax Gen."
Santa came a bit late this year... The old cat will be testing this one in game. Looks good and the tessellation looks subtle and well blended. The old cat has not added snow and ice mods yet. Perfect timing. You can have a cookie as well.
We'll finish up with a little bit of Cartography
BecomingNplus1 released Detailed Landscapes - Hold Border Banners Renewal (B)S)
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/137790
"Mod recreates 'Hold Border Banners' entirely with Base Object Swapper (BOS)"
And why not. Thanks
Atlas Map Markers Overhaul by Almalesbian
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/137793
"Atlas Overhaul aims to bring the locations of the original Atlas Map Markers more in line with vanilla Skyrim's naming conventions, with a focus on lore consistency! Includes an overhaul of the CoMAP markers for Atlas, the base game and Anniversary Edition."
A nice finish to the first review of the year... Skyrim always seems to call us home. Now you can find your way a little better.
The fires are stoked, the kettles scrubbed, and the floors are swept and mopped. may the new year bring you all peace, joy, and happiness. Now get out there... Thar be dragons to hunt, and We-B-Open!
Gods saves Ulfric!
The war is a sham, and Ulfic is a Thalmor tool, but you can still drink here LOL
Well My testing progresses. I've noticed that for some reason Sunhelm cold system is unbalanced. Headed to Windhelm, and the cold felt like it came on slowly in a reasonable way. But inside the forgotten cave I actually had to stop and build a fire two or three times. Frostfall was never that bad, and Sunhelm is more forgiving so it must be a setting.

The wood texture issue was resolved cleanly to my satisfaction. Windstad mine now has proper looking buildings, walkways and fences. It also fixed Morvaths lare and round window cabin... I call it a win.
Soon I'll have to turn my attention to snow and ice as it really is a huge part of the game, and running complex parallax makes it worse.

The Joys of modding continues, only this play through is a first run around the map doing the odd side quest and checking locations. I'll probably head to Dawnstar this morning. That will be a good test of the general exterior cold settings. I'm hoping Forgotten cave was an aberration, not a sample of things to come.
KlerkinJ released Simple God Ring as a first mod. Welcome.
"A custom ring that will eliminate all spell costs, make you extremely hard to kill, and let you buy and sell for the best prices."
Maybe I didn't miss anything at that LOL. Your game your way.
That one does not interest me in the slightest even though I'm currently redoing my mods and getting rid of vigilant. Not a bad Dlc size mod just got hard to follow with the partial voiced mod and bad English text. I do have a few mods new mods that I've missed that I thought that I would try out this next run through. One of them being "Haven Bag"
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/2809
Which looks interesting and if anyone has tried it out what is your thoughts on the mod?
For what would you need such a ring for? I know some just like wandering about, so being unable to die would be a good thing, but, why not just turn the difficulty right down?
I can never see the point in mods like this, unless it's specifically for testing things....
I never saw the point in it either even for the testing of things in game. I don't like a game that you just walk through. I like a bit of a challenge.
Not sure if I like the glass for Solstheim Thalmor or not, from what I recall they're supposed to be there kinda 'undercover' so glass seems a bit flashy (I assume from the description that if you're a high enough level they'll be in glass, I'd rather a mod that changes it so they never are, I feel like?) and also glass is nearly as good as Stalhrim (other than the magical properties) so it feels a bit less worth all the hassle if they've got grunts knocking about in glass...
Similar to the snow globe houses. Convenient for storage and crafting, Not very comfy and not in any stretch lore friendly.
Testing doesn't really require cheating. My test setups give me base weapons, and materials to craft initial armor, travel potions and first weapon buffs. That ring serves no purpose other than pointing out exactly how newbie the author is... God items and houses in Riverwood LOL. Dead giveaway.
If you're looking for a justification... How about; Hi I'm a noob and I installed SOT and Requiem and I keep getting killed before reaching the first town?
............Battlespire?
I mean they put a whole battlemage training facilitiy in a pocket of Oblivion.
I am just saying......
Edit: And I think its a shame we never went back. I tried to make a mod in Oblivion (the game) where you team up with Divith Fyr to reclaim it and bring it back to Tamriel. But I never got past creating the End Quest Tower part (Based off the Imperial City Towers) Home and said good enough for me.
Is glass even considered Elvish? It's not like you find them in carved nordic, or Ebony... New author, first mod. I don't really 'judge' first mods as much as welcome and get a chuckle or two.
Happy New Year Gnewna. I was gone already when you posted...
