Wait it's 60 degrees where your at and you are freezing? I'm here in Va and its only 34 degrees. I'll trade you.
Morning Gnewna,
Yeah, JaySerpa this one's not. I do like the idea of additional blades content, but I didn't dig too far under the hood. Honestly I find Delphine narrow minded and annoying. I usually leave her parked at the temple and mostly forgotten anyway. Oh well.
Nah, Delphine is a badass who's been successfully hiding from and upsetting the Thalmor for most of her life, she was in her mid twenties or so at the start of the Great War and was already a serious thorn in their side, described as a high priority target "for both operational and political reasons", she's in her mid fifties now and still considered very dangerous, and that "Her continued existence is an affront to all of us." She's one of the coolest characters in the game, tbh. Sure, she's abrasive, so are lots of characters people love.
(It helps if you ever actually go with her to Kynesgrove rather than meeting her there, and read her Dossier, but yeah, #teamDelphine and all that!)
Even Paarthurnax says
Paarthurnax's name means Ambition Overlord Cruelty, and a Dov's name is their nature. He says he's changed and I tend to believe him, but it's still worth noting that his name is still the same (whereas Durnehviir - 'Curse Never-Dying' probably wasn't called that originally, so it seems like the name may change if the Dov changes enough). Added to that, the Blades have been after him since the 4th century of the second era, when they were stlll the Dragonguard, it's not like Delphine and Esbern just pulled this out of nowhere:
And, like, Dragons are straight up trying to take over the world under Alduin's rule, so it's not really surprising someone might not be super keen on them, any more than the Thalmor... (I dunno about you, but (even though I do have some empathy for being really not keen on Talos, and the fact that a lot of them are probably somewhat brainwashed) I am hella narrow minded about the Thalmor!)
I've never killed Paarthurnax either, but unless someone comes out with a mod that lets you *persuade* rather than brow-beat the Blades (JaySerpa's is a bit more to my taste than Arthmoor's in that you don't quite have a Dragon Tongue temper tantrum, but it's still basically 'you should do what I say' not 'look, it's not a priority right now okay, when we've dealt with Alduin I'll keep an eye on him' or whatever, so, meh, at the very least some role playing choices of how to handle it would be nice) I'll probably stick with just ignoring their request.
And as always most welcome. Sorry I was clearing the deep mines of mars. An interesting stealth incursion for a good cause... ya know lol.
For the most part I agree with you. I've done the reading, and paid attention to the dialogs. I just always felt better leaving him to teach the younger dragons. It's more a cup half full, your future is not defined by your past... yada yada, type of thing with me. I was never fond of shouting Delphine down in Arthmoor's mod either. It was the first, and served us well. I have it loaded mostly out of habit. In truth it's been so long since I've actually bothered with the main quest that I forgot all about confronting the blades.
I've been seriously considering using JaySerpa's collection as a base for my next build. I wanted to keep it pretty zen this time anyway. I have my own taste in parallax textures and flora/fauna, but those I can do in my sleep. I think for once I would like someone else to add to the stories, and let me focus on the world. Who knows. If I treat it as a long game I might... MIGHT! be tempted into actually doing some of these quests again. It's been a long time since I saved Kodlak's soul from Hercine... etc. Well, most of them anyway. You couldn't pay me to do the CW quests. There are limits to the amount of stupid I can absorb
Best of my understanding there aren't really younger/older dragons, they've all been around since almost the start of Time. It's just that with Alduin gone, Paarthurnax is the most senior/powerful, in most of their eyes, because of all his time spent doing war crimes as Alduin's right hand Dov. Which if he's genuinely changed, is cool, hopefully they'll follow his teachings. But if he *has* been playing the longest game (again, think of the Thalmor playing the long game waiting for the humans to fight amongst themselves and waste their quick-repopulation advantage by draining each others' resources. Now think of a Dragon who is immeasurably older than even the oldest Mer...) then he's in an extremely good position to essentially be Alduin 2: Overlord Boogaloo. (And he's not even supposed to eat the world, could just focus on ruling it...)
It's a gamble that's, IMO, worth at least taking for now (but keeping an eye on...) but when the LDB is gone, if it turns out it was just a long con, Tamriel and possibly all of Nirn would be in biiiiig trouble.
Hmmm, Maybe it can end with the amulet being reforged, and the dragon fires lit once more.
My take on TES7 ... Return to Skyrim - The dawn of the 5th Age
Oh it definitely would, but what I was getting at was that even an Elf LDB is likely to only have a few centuries at most (barring vampirism and stuff, but even that's only immortality, not invulnerability, all it takes is a really lucky assassin... And after all, vampires are REAL flammable which isn't an ideal weakness against dragons!) before they're gone, and then what? We are, after all, the *Last* Dragonborn...
(There's no need for the dragonfires though, the amulet doesn't need reforging (and probably wouldn't do much if it was? The Chim-El Adabal no longer contains all them Emperor souls, after all...) and so on. IIRC the LOTD questline involves some of that which is why I'm never massively invested in pursuing it, I just wanna make the museum look nice and start an archeology guild, not all this other stuff...)
Fair enough. I think LOTD cured me of OCD. I no longer want to collect all the crap
I really think I'm going to stick to my prospector character this time. There's something about the premise that appeals to me. It feels unscripted, but there's no end to the trouble I could get myself into poking my nose under every rock. But I'm thinking a walking game. Where it really can take a couple of days of hunting, fishing, and camping to get from Dragon's bridge to Markarth. I still want to do the patron at an inn start in Dragon's bridge and earn undergrowth grotto by clearing the Spriggans and laying the previous owner to rest. After that, I have no idea. I'm looking forward to seeing it unfold.
You've got me thinking of my build again. I've been putting it off, but the idea of a vanilla plus zen game with Jay's collection has it's appeal. I should be in a position to put this character to bed soon. I think I'm ready for a fresh Skyrim Build.
Nope, I've made up my mind. I'm not really interested in being the Dragonborn this time. I picture this character as being an uncharacteristically tall dwarf, but not quite as hairy ;-)
