If you're new to Skyrim, or just having problems, and not sure where to begin ... Just ask. All are welcome, If you can grow pubic hair you're already an old fart to someone.

This is just a place to hang, chat, ask questions, and get abused by forum regulars. Feel free to drop by ... We might not have all the answers, but we probably already know the people that do, and we will be happy to help.

Bashing, spamming, self promoting, advertising, and trolling will simply provide us with target practice and make you look really lame. Please leave politics and religion at the door as well.

Personal attacks against forum guests based on country, race, ethnicity, and lifestyle preferences will not be tollerated in any way ... Period, and we will be enforcing the moderators rules around here ... Period

Keep it clean (mostly) While the game is listed as mature, a lot of the people aren't
Keep it civil (always) arguing a little is fine, just keep it friendly

Move over young ones ... Gramps moved back in.

Yeah like, they're really cool projects, and I'm sure I'll give them a go if I can. But I like the actual games, warts and all
Gooooooood Morning Tamriel!

Ah'vrie wishes you well. It is Fredas the 30th of Second Seed and thank the divines the weekend is nigh. The blessed moons have set and it is once again time for Ah'vrie to tend the inn for our most honored guests. Excuse please while the fires are stoked and fresh water is brought to the boil...

Our brew of the day is from Indonesia, and the biscuits are Tate's lemon cookies. Checking the hot sheets we have 43 new mods with all the usual jiggly bits. Let's see what catches the eye of an old cat over a fresh cuppa or two.

First a poke at a mod released about 10 minutes ago... Well, a word of caution anyway.

everflame released Ultra Enemy - Good Death. No link for this one... The mod turns the old orc from the random world encounter into another Ebony knight. Unfortunately that's a very low level encounter spawn. Ah'vrie can't speak for anyone else, but that's not a fight you'd want to trigger at level 9 :steamfacepalm: The author likes making god weapons... Duh!

never2881998 released Easy Lockpicking - Game Settings Override conversion
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/127975
What it says on the wrapper. This is their first mod. Welcome, and thanks.

rylandm20 released Simple Race Overhaul
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/127985
"A simple, modern overhaul of the starting Races." And the pile gets slightly deeper, lets see; Argonian Alchemy, Breton Alteration, Dark elf destruction, high elf enchanting, Khajiit sneak, Nord two handed... :steambored:

Sky91 released Training Dummies SE - BOS
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/127929
"Replaces all Static or Activator type base-game training dummies with functional, scripted dummies via BOS." Nice, this version makes no cell edits and works in a well modded game. Now we're talking. Thanks, this one gets a cookie

AndrealphusVIII released Dirty Water Carries Diseases
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/127938
"This mod makes swimming in dirty water more dangerous, as it has a change to inflict a disease."

The old cat was going to comment on what defines 'dirty water' but Andrealphus limited it to the Riften canals and cistern with a 50% chance of getting sick... Of course the well in the market is above the cistern... just saying. Maybe that's why Grelka's always cranky, all the bathroom breaks :steammocking: Thanks

LeucisticDinosaur released Nocturnal Predators - Spawn Tweaks
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/123484
"Adds configurable chances for wilderness animal spawns, including time of day and weather-dependent predator chances. Optionally also adds additional variety to wilderness predator lists. ESPFE."

Intended to work with True Hunter which reduces the number of leveled animal spawns, so expect more bunnies in the daytime, and more wolves at night, Thanks. The old cat will stick with Skytest. You don't want to know what it's like to run into a hunting pack of red wolves at night. It's a good fight ;-)

And finally our mod of the day. Sound the trumpets and summon the dancers!

Xila's Monstrrous Frost Dragon
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/127947
"Terrifying retexture of the Frost Dragon; in high resolution, with glowmapping, throat effect and more." She does amazing work. This one hopes this is the first of a series, because the look is amazing. The only downside is she forgot to leave a gap in the shoulder spikes to accommodate a rider. Beautiful retex though. 2 cookies

And that will do for today. The fires are stoked, the kettles scrubbed, and the floors are swept. Have a seat and the wenches will serve you. We-B-Open! :steamhappy:
I tend to assume the sewers in Riften are disused ones from the old city (before it burned down in 4e129) and I try not to think too much about the fact that the cistern and Ragged Flagon seem to each have a skylight that doesn't exist anywhere in the city (a well wouldn't be such a bright shaft of light, I think, on account of being narrow and having that big cover over it)

That said, whatever water's in either of them is pretty obviously stagnant so yeah, don't drink it...
LOL, I'd hate to do an actual map overlay. The Thieves guild would be under the temple, and the Flagon would be mostly under the lake I think. Old city sewers fits the cannon, I don't want to think about them emptying right at the fishery either. :steamfacepalm:

I'll stick with RND, and boil my river and lake water before drinking it. Tedious, but immersive
I mean, not that Skyrim is historical, but this is a humorous version of a real thing that happened in London less than two centuries ago (thankfully things did actually end up being done to actually solve the issue, eventually)

https://youtu.be/tKn8nzLI-Yo?si=yWpNqXPqRLdxWYzt

It was known as the Great Stink
I'm totally familiar with the history believe it or not. And the result was that London was forced retrofit the sewers. No one planned on subsidence, and poop don't run up hill ;-) I'd have to check my facts, but I believe London was actually the first major metropolis to completely separate the sewer and storm systems and was also credited with the first water treatment facility...

Because the 'gentry' weren't far enough up wind to escape the problem. :steammocking:

Pretty much! Especially with Parliament being pretty much directly on the River...
@akostic, I don't have anything against Skywind. When my son bought me Oblivion (a classic that any Bethesda lover should play -- looking at the cat behind the bar), he also gave me Morrowind. I fired up the latter once and just couldn't get into it -- though I don't recall why. When Skywind is released, I will likely give it a try.

As for Skyblivion, I'm really looking forward to it. I love the scenery is Oblivion. Everything is so green and filled with trees. I just hope it doesn't require jumping through as many hoops as Fallout: London.
I've nothing against Skywind, it's a cool project, I just like Morrowind and don't have much interest in a fan remake in Skyrim.
Did my pin cushion impersonation and got all my vaccines done for the year. Evidently I chose the correct shots some how. RSV, Shingles, Pneumonia, are all good for ever, and unless something new comes along it's just covid and flu, so I'm done until next fall.

(I always schedule my shots before the great snowbird migration... Already learned that lesson the hard way.)

And so without further ado, exit our hero stage left for our next exciting adventure of Cats in Spaaace! ;-)
A little late to the party!

@SiMelissa:
In general I don't like games that are not first person, but I really enjoyed playing Submerged and Submerged: Hidden Depths. And, it's even post-apocalyptic and also a parkour-type of game, both types I generally also dislike.
This question is way off topic, the people who take care of big cats ie : tigers , lions and so forth, do they get a brushing now and again. to get of knots and so forth.

Covid, flu .... and anti-zombie vax ... just in case.

And I keep forgetting that you get busy for the winter.
I'll bet you can't wait for that phone to start ringing at the same moment as your ship is mid-battle.

I do not know anyone personally who has owned a big cat so I have no conclusive answer. But I would guess that the answer is no.

First of all, tigers and female lions have short fur and wouldn't need a human to brush it. Even male tigers have short fur, except for that crown around the head. I doubt they'd be happy if someone came up and tried to give that thick, coarse head fur a good brushing.

Healthy cats, especially those with short fur, will groom themselves and possibly each other.

Now, if you do decide to brush a lion, I hope you will return and let us know how it went. :steammocking:
