Goooooood morning Tamriel!

Ah'vrie wishes you well. It is Turdas the 21st of First Seed and a quiet predawn here on warm sands. The blessed moons have set, and it is once again time for this one to tend the inn for our most honored guests. Excuse please while the fires are stoked, and fresh water is put to the boil...

Our Brew of the day is classic Ristretto, and the biscuits are Almond biscotti. Checking the hot sheets we have 59 new mods with all the usual suspects. Let's see what catches the eyes of an old cat over a fresh cuppa or two.

We're going to start with something a little unusual for the old cat. A pointy stick.

johnskyrim released Relentless
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/114022
"Adds a NEW One-Handed Longsword called "Relentless". Comes in 1k, 2k and 4k Resolutions and offers a 2H variant."

Zzyxzz released Relentless - LL Injection - SkyPatched
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/114641
"Adds the awesome Relentless sword to the Dawnguard Vendors Gunmar and Hestla. Allowing you to purchase the weapons in an immersive way! No Plugin, no conflicts, maximum compatibility!"

The old cat doesn't normally give pointy sticks a second look, but JS did an amazing job. Everything looks great. The pummel and leather wrapped handle and engraved guard look perfectly balanced to the blade. The double edge is hollow ground and the fullering along the medial ridge shows an actual understanding of the forging process. This is simply a beautiful piece of work. Light, fast, and worthy of any Dovahkin. The glowing ruin option meshes really well with a Dawnguard distribution list as well. Solid 2 cookie work.

WhereDeadAngelsLie released an Add Item Menu ESL patch and a less cheaty version
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/users/9170915?tab=user+files
Thanks, good to see this getting some love. Have a cookie

GiraPomba released Dynamic Looting and Harvesting Animations
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/114547
"Adds dynamic animations for haversting flora and looting from NPCs/chests, wardrobes and barrels." They look good if a little repetitive, A few of the animations miss a little bit, but overall a nice set, and much better than vanilla. Thanks

Socalista added three more overgrown exterior paths
https://www.nexusmods.com/users/104121?tab=user+files&BH=1
Stormwatch, Shade Hall, and Whiterun Safehold. Thanks, no one like muddy boots ;-)

Schlitzohr released Cracked Tusk Keep
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/114566
"A overhaul of the Cracked Tusk Keep. Changing it to an orc stronghold with quests."

It also edits a few cells and adds an Orc longhouse to Bilegulch mine. (Ah'vrie is assuming those are quest related and not wild edits.) The added quest dialogs are voiced using ElevenLabs unfortunately, but worth a look.

Rally's Chests SMIM
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/114409
"Replacer for the Upper and Common Chests by SMIM in 4K or 2K. Optional version with 3D handles for Upper Chests available"

These look good, but the leather straps under the 'd rings' and the way the horizontal wooden bracing cuts through the central metal brace doesn't quite look correct to an old ct's eye. The old cat will pass on this one, but nice work all the same.

And finally. Snazzy goes prime time lol

Snazzy Furniture and Clutter Overhaul (SFCO3) - Base Object Swapper
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/113045
"A comprehensive overhaul of furniture and clutter throughout Tamriel, primarily distributed via Base Object Swapper! Includes new models and textures for noble chairs and beds, drapery, Imperial and Thalmor banners, weapon racks and plaques, display cases, alchemy and enchanting tables, wall artwork, children's' toys, and more!"

Now you can have snazzy diversity popping up all over, And if it fits your character and build why not? Gutmaw should have simply called this Snazzy Skyrim. Have a cookie

And that will do for today. The fires are stoked, the kettles scrubbed. and the floors are swept. Have a seat by the fires and warm your bones. We-B-Open! :steamhappy:

I'm not generally a fan of two handed weapons but that Relentless looks so well crafted that I can't pass it up. I installed the injector to let Gunmar get it too.

Anyone know if we still need to use Synthesis to create a Northborne + AIO Patch and if so, any instructions that work with Vortex?

I can't make heads nor tails of the instructions for MO2.

To be clear, I built the patch but have no idea where it is or how to get it. If I follow the build patch from Synthesis in the add files button from Vortex, I get a message that Vortex doesn't recognize this as a mod and do I want to create a mod from this file.

TBH I would mostly just love to skip Synthesis altogether if I can but I really don't have a clue what it's doing or why this is wanted.

You need *a* patch. Personally I make one in xedit for any mods I have that touch NPC records, it's tedious but I know what I'm doing and I can get through it in a few hours at most (these days I don't have many replacers so it's much less)

It also means I can spot any mods that play silly beggars with the opposite gender anims flag, and find any other mods that make edits I *don't* want to carry through into a patch
Altbert 21 MAR 2024 a las 10:21
@ Lizrd:

You will probably have to, as there is no patch on Nexus anymore, or if want to go the tedious route. I don't have instructions for Vortex or MO2 as I don't use those and use Synthesis outside a mod manager.
lizrdfishr 21 MAR 2024 a las 11:42
Ok. I need it.

Can someone translate this?

"if you use mod organizer 2, click on the box next to the run button, then ONLY locate the synthesis.exe in Binary. same thing in vortex probably, just different ui. Alternativily you can tick the box where you send the synthesis patch to a mod folder if you dont want it in the overwrite folder."

I use Vortex. I have no idea what program the "run button" is in or where I would find the Synthesis binary.

What and or where is an overwrite folder?
gnewna 21 MAR 2024 a las 12:01
Overwrite folder is an MO2 thing, I think Vortex outputs to the Data folder?
lizrdfishr 21 MAR 2024 a las 12:17
Ok I think I'm getting it.

Is there a run button in MO2 that you can use to link to an exe to start a program like BodySlide or Nemesis?

Is he talking about setting up Synthesis to run from the MO2 GUI?

EDIT:
Yep that's it.

Thank you gnewna. I found a new entry in my data folder, converted it to a mod in Vortex and my game still runs.

"And so, our story begins..."

Wait...that's the wrong game.

"Hey you, you're finally awake!"

Yes...yes I am. It is time.

Ok I think I'm getting it.

The pull down menu next to the run button selects which executable you run when you click the button, so the first part is just their way of saying run Synthesis 'through' MO2

The equivalent in Vortex would be to use the add tool button, on the tools window on the dashboard. As long as it's an EXE file Vortex will (shouls) walk you through the installation. While Vortex does use hardlinks for BGS games, it's always a good idea to let them install the tools... The same goes for xEdit, Fnis, Wryebash... If you then click the 'enable toolbar' switch. you'll get a little side window next to the profile with the tools all listed. That way you can run the tools specific to a profile.

I use add tool all the time. The instructions for Synthesis are just too ambiguous.

I don't think it matters now. Something is significantly wrong and I cannot seem to remove that mod. Locking my FR to 30 helps but I am crashing on new games consistently.

I know of no other way to fix this than to purge mods, wipe the game and start over.

I think I'm going to be sick. So I'm putting it down and going outside to do something else.

No diving off the roof into traffic yet Liz... I'm sure there's a fix if you dig for it. Purging mods in Vortex is actually easy, and one button to re-deploy as well. We just need to roll back what Vortex did with Synthesis... There is definitely a way to do that.

That's for the Nexus Mods discord... Picky will know how to back those patcher changes back out. Diving under the hood is a little above my pay grade, But I'm sure there's an undo thingy somewhere... I just don't know where.

At the very least, purge the mods, verify the game files, then re-deploy the mods but screw using the patcher... If it's causing problems. Maybe nemesis is the better choice, but you may be doing some manual LO changes, or at the least using the conflict resolution screens to set the correct 'load after's
lizrdfishr 21 MAR 2024 a las 16:27
I don't believe this has anything to do with Synthesis.

This problem is more likely caused by Faster HDT-SMP.
Altbert 21 MAR 2024 a las 16:32
Reading all the previous posts I am glad using Wrye Bash as a mod manager (doing so since Morrowind). Being able to activate various tools from inside WB, I never do so. Always use those externally and that suits me well, and always did!

Not going to quit but I cannot get to Discord without a cell phone and I don't own one.

Thank you for the invite though.
