Don't know if this will help but here's the combat music file structure and file names for old Skyrim. Make your own combat music, convert to xwm, and rename them like below (the ones with finale in them are just the last 15 seconds of the track that fades out when the fight is over). Then plonk them all in the Data > music > combat folder.

Data > music > combat -

mus_combat_01.xwm
mus_combat_01_finale.xwm
mus_combat_02.xwm
mus_combat_02_finale.xwm
mus_combat_03.xwm
mus_combat_03_finale.xwm
mus_combat_04.xwm
mus_combat_04_cg.xwm
mus_combat_04_finale.xwm
mus_combat_06.xwm
mus_combat_06_finale.xwm
mus_combat_boss.xwm
mus_combat_boss_02.xwm
mus_combat_boss_02_finale.xwm
mus_combat_boss_03.xwm
mus_combat_boss_03_finale.xwm
mus_combat_boss_cg.xwm

so combat music is split into 6 different files?
not sure what difference "boss" combat makes

The boss combat tracks is specifically for the dragon fights i believe, the ones without boss are for normal combat encounters. Theres 5 different tracks for the normal combat tracks (each with their 15 second finale fadeout) and 3 different boss combat tracks (+ finale tracks). The ones with cg in their names are duplicates of mus_combat_04 and mus_combat_boss (I don't know why they are there but they are just the same tracks), and there isn't a mus_combat_05, so goes from 04 to 06.

so i should split one track into 15 sec files split in 5 tracks ?
i hope something simple like audacity can help me convert to these file types, thx for the help

No you need 5 tracks to replace the mus_combat tracks (01, 02, 03, 04, and 06).

To make the finale ones just use audicity to cut them down to the last 15 seconds and save them as mus_combat_01_finale and so on.

So when you finish you should have 5 full tracks, and 5 tracks that are the last 15 seconds of each, all of them renamed like the list above. If you've saved them in wav format or mp3, you'll need to convert them xwm.

If you havent got 5 different combat tracks, you could even use 1 track and duplicate it 5 times, just make sure to rename them like the list above. Only downside is it will be the same song playing everytime you get into combat.

so youre saying its "not the same track", cut into 6x total tracks? in each 15 sec sequences of the same original track following a continuation of the original track?

im not sure ive even heard more than 1 or 2 different tracks for combat with the overhual im using from nordic ambient

no, its not the same track. Vanilla has 5 general combat tracks about 2 minutes length each one, and 3 dragon combat tracks.

ah, so the majority of the track will be 01, and the 01_finale is just the last few seconds of the track i want to use with a fadeout

so i can use the same track to cut them into 01+finale(fade out),
02+(fade out) with the same track just different names
