resolution/ fps issues
i have an i5 and a gtx 980. my screen is a samsung 55" 4k TV. trying to play skyrim at 1080 or 1440, the game doesnt fit my screen and locks it to 30 fps but when i go 3840x2160 it fits my screen and goes up to 60fps.. i am running close to 20 mods so its a little hard to hold a constant 60 frames in 4k. so i would like to play in 1440 to keep me at 60 fps... any help?

[Edit]..... got 1440 to fit screen but now its locked to 30 fps, but as soon as i go back to 4k its at 60

The more details you add, the lower your FPS will be, especially in busy areas

but why can i get 60 fps in 4k but not in 1080 or 1440? i hold 60 pretty good but i get a few drops from time to time and it bothers me
not sure, might be something between your vid card and the TV. Most certainly has something to do with your vid card.

If you are getting fps drops outside in the forest and other areas, like Falkreath and surrounding areas...everyone gets these fps drops (no matter the res). Not much can be done about those areas...it's a fault in the engine.

You need to create a proper resolution with the proper 60hz refresh rate in order to get 60fps in the 1080p & 1440p. Your video card driver prob only has the standard PC refresh rates for 1080p & 1440p since your native res for your TV is 4k. Look into your Nvidia control panel and see if there are 60hz for 1080p & 1440p available in the dropdown menu first. If so, then choose them. If not then like I said you will need to create them. Google search will explain how to.

game does not do well in 4K. I to have a 65" LG 4K 3D use as a monitor.. You should have a number of 2K & 4K resolutions to choose from. Find one (recomend 2K) that hhas the same resolution as yoour video xard. I use a GTX 980 at 1980 x 1200 that works well.

try running without MODs to see if it runs better.. Also those higher resolutions may not work with rither you video card and/or the game
