Edit: Don't use the cloud for backup either - it *will* let you down!
there are also issues with samsung 850 pro drives with older firmwares that sometimes corrupt saves when the write cache is enabled on it (via someone checking the box in the windows device manager to make it go faster). I don't have that citation handy but it also was a problem with fallout 4 saves and other games... disabling the write cache or upgrading the firmware can help with that, if save games keep getting corrupted.
1 - Holy ♥♥♥♥, this thread is a perfect demonstration on what sucks about the Steam Community Forums. It has the most unhelpful, elitist ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around, whom, instead of coming to give a proper attempt at solving the problem, or just ignoring the thread due to not having any helpful things to say, will comment just to say "hey don't quicksave haha, if you're a true GAMER you shouldn't have to." Like, thanks ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. That really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ helps.
Did you stop to think that not everyone has the patience to painfully go through the menu and select multiple options just to create a backup save in case the game that is known for being incredibly buggy suddenly crashes?
Specially when the game itself has a much easier way of dealing with that, with just one keybind that was working fine up to this point?
2 - Ranting aside, for anyone looking for someone who's ACTUALLY helpful, check out ChaosBahamut and SeriousCCIE's suggestions. Deleting the quicksave, disabling auto-saves temporarily and then making a manual save does seem to work.
Should that not work, I'd recommend going back to an earlier save, if you're able.
And from now on, you might want to create manual saves every now and then, to stop the game from eventually automatically replacing them with corrupted saves.
You could have started a thread quoting those two posts (click on quotes, highlight the text and click "copy"). You could even have made your point about some people being elitist and unhelpful.
