Black Star missing

I just noticed that The Black Star went missing from my inventory. I didn't sell it or drop it by mistake, it just disappeared.
I tried inserting the code to have it back, but I can't seem to write it correctly, can someone please answer me with the correct way of writing down the coe?

this happened to me, i re-added it into my inventory, and then i happened again

No idea, after I used the code the issue didn't show itself again.

Old thread but got here via google. This keeps happening to me, even after putting in the above console command twice now. Could be mods, could be a bug with the base game, no clue. Happening in the Anniversary edition in case anyone else winds up here too.

Did you check your luggage? (followers,pets, all house chests)

Are you allowed to have more then one? or does game delete it if you left it somewhere(yet still 'possess' it)?
I imagine some have tried to have both stars ...

Looked everywhere I could possibly have left it. Never tried having both stars via console command or anything though. Even if the game knew I had a "duplicate" it wouldn't explain the first one vanishing on me.

This looks to be a rare bug. The wiki indicates a possible fix is to reload to a save when it was in your inventory, drop it, then pick it back up.

Just tried this for the first time with my newest console made duplicate. Hopefully it'll stick, if not I may have to try redoing the quest via console command or something.

I've tried, i really did, but can't get it to work, i did manage to give both Nelacar and Aranea the broken star by duplicating it with the quick save duplication glitch, but after you talk to one of them after that and complete the quests, it blocks out the other from completing. I guess i could try it again some time, see if i can glitch the quest even more for better results.

For anyone else who shows up here from google as I did, adding a Black Star through the console, dropping it specifically in the Winterhold inn next to Nelacar, and picking it back up appears to have stopped it from vanishing again. Best of luck.

Playing Skyrim again a little over a year later I might have found a cause. I did "Escape from Cidnha Mine" and while I appear to have got everything else back, The Black Star went missing again. I could be wrong, but given it's a quest where everything is taken out of your inventory I figured it was worth mentioning as a possible cause.

There is a typo above for the console command on the item id, should be:
player.additem 63B29 1
