I totally agree with this above quote. Very accurate. Hammers/maces tend to do more damage but feel much slower in their swing. I personally favour the BIG F***ing Hammers. But the Greatswords and Axes are good in their own ways. They have Bleed-out, creating a slight DoT on your attack. Hammers are all out damage on impact, which is why I like them so much, especially when their head flies off! :D
Skyrim is an RPG that you can make what you want of it with no right or wrong. Look at your Weapon Skill trees. They give clues to your weapons' properties and can help you make choices.
I often have a collection of different weapons, with varying enchantments on them. Doesn't matter about a few points of damage give or take. You still have a multitude of tactical attacks other than the swinging of your sidearm.
Crunching numbers, <sigh> One of the reasons why I completely fell out of love with MMO's.
(ESO = tragic fail b/c of simply competing by mathematics. KILLS the fun and completely ERASES RPG). Still, I love meeting up with friends and running around goofing off :)
The loading screen is incorrect, its true that one handed swords are faster than on handed axes, but two handed swords and two handed axes have same attack speed.
So greataxes are as fast as greatswords?
Yes, they both have an 0.7 attack speed multiplier.
You can read in detail on uesp wiki:
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Weapons#Two-handed_Weapons
That says the loading screen but its incorrect. If you dont believe the wiki you can view the exact stats of each weapon in the creation kit.
One thing I do know..never mind Axes or Swords; those damned baskets do some pretty f***ing critical damage eh.. or what about skeletons...try stumbling into those >.<
I already posted a link to the uesp wiki. They get the stats right out of the creation kit. Not sure where you get your information.
Like I said you can look up the stats of each weapon in the creation kit yourself. You can argue with me or information given in some wiki, but you cannot argue with game data and the SDK this game was created with.
