Stalhrim can't smelt it.

Ok so I have done several quests to be able to mine & use the new metal in Solstheim i have over 30 ores but the smith keeps saying i need to get some to forge it. So stuck. Any advice as to why its not working?

"Stalhrim armor and weapons cannot be forged until completion of the quest "A New Source of Stalhrim," obtained at the Skaal Village.
The Ebony Smithing perk is also required to craft Stalhrim items. Unlike other ores, Stalhrim does not require smelting, and is used in the state in which it is mined."

You don't smelt stalhrim it's ice not ore you use it as is.
If you have rescued the smith and have some stalhrim you're good to go

Ok not an ore per-say thanks. as for Ebony smithing perk ah that i will have to check. I know i just got the smith enchanted dont remember where Ebony was on skill tree. Thanks Everyone

Ya was just doing the skal thing and the guy does say ebony smithing is needed it's pretty high up the skill tree I just buy the gear from the guy just hang around or come back every few days you will get what you need

Buying the stuff seems like a good idea - but you will not get the Stalhrim achievement this way.

thanks all, yea i worked hard on smithing last nite getting close think last checked aat around 76 and its at 80 lol.
