Is this a bug? Miraak steals a dragon soul (fine), but never leaves the place.
I went to Darkwater Crossing for some menial task, and a dragon showed up.
Killed it the dragon, and Miraak then appears and absorbs its dragon soul (which i guess happens randomly? - it happened before).

Difference this time is he doesn't disappear from there. There is a 'talk to Miraak' prompt if i get close to him that does nothing. I've fast travelled elsewhere, and back to Darkwater Crossing, and the dragon's skeleton and Miraak are both still there.

Wondering if i ran into some gamebreaking bug and should reload a previous save, or if this is normal and/or fixable.

Sounds like a bug - he is supposed to vanish after he absorbs the soul. Hopefully it won't affect further progression of the story for you though.

Guess I'll just reload a previous save then, rather than risk it, thanks.

Sounds like a bug. Save and wait or fast travel to see if he vanishes.

when i had this bug it ended up being ok. the game just telaports him wher hes needed

This happened to me but i think its actually part of the game cause he is also dragonborn and trying to get more powerfull

no, it was a bug, i reloaded a previous save, repeated the actions and it didn't happen again.

Guess he finally escaped the island and returned to tamriel. GG, Miraak won, you have to start a whole new game.

I have had this happen before also...but I don't think affects the game. I hope!!!

I have also had him 'not' appear many times but his voice speaks and then the dragon soul is taken. Also had a few times where after killing a dragon nothing happens...period...then about 1/2 hour later a message appears at the top corner of the screen that 'a dragon soul was taken' or something to that extent.

Definitley a bug in the game but hard to trace...since it's so random.
