Best location/house to raise a family?
Markarth is full of poverty, corruption, and daedra worshipping cannibal weirdos.

Lakeview Manor is right next to a bandit hideout

Windhelm is cold as balls.

Whiterun's Breeze home is right next to the city gate that gets invaded by Vampires every
night.

Honeyside (Riften) is full of thugs/thieves and swindlers. Great view though.

Heljarchen Hall is right next to Giants (they will probably squish my kids)

Is Solitude the best?

Solitude is the best, with many guards, plus other children running in the streets. If you put your family there, your children will run and play with the others.

It is the only home that Aela vocally approves of.

Soltude is were mine are, nice and safe, plus friends for them.

Vampires only invade if you are awake at night. Why are you awake? GO TO SLEEP! <no more vampires>

It's about proximity. For example, would you want your family living in a house where a drive by shooting occurs every night on the same street you live on? There's probably reason why Whiterun property is cheap.

Well, I think the Whiterun Vampire attacks can be stopped quite easily. You just have to finish the Dawnguard DLC.

Windhelm , the little life siphons will toughen up , jackets are cheap .
10 fingers ,
10 toes ,
so there's plenty if a few fall off due to frostbite ,
plus they will be motivated to keep busy . no better way to stay warm than a little slave labor .
busy hands are unfrozen hands

Your Solitude home is built on top of a huge rock arch that is gong to crumble into the sea any day now!
