Reason to keep gems? Gold?

Is there a reason to keep gems, gold or other jewelry you find? Or should I just sell them?

I use them to make jewellry and then echant them to get my smithing and enchanting skills up. Otherwise just sell them.

Only to make jewelry.
On the other hand the money is also useless, I am looking for any means to spend it... and it is hard...
I am using master trainers who are also merchants just to sell my loot which only increases my gold.
I would appreciate a mod witm some property/personnel management that would consume the gold.

Flawless Sapphires have a couple of uses in game and can be frustratingly rare. Save a few of them if they drop.

I spend a fortune on Grand Soul Gems since I keep chaninge play style. Plus I don't bother selling all my stuff. Plus I spend quite a lot on trainers in skills that I rarely use.

There is a mod that lets you destroy a flawless gem to receive enchanting bonus during the enchatnting session. Various item categories require various gems.

Some are needed for quests i think so keep them

Three Flawless Amethysts and two Flawless Sapphires are needed for quests in Riften. Other than that I can't think of any requirements for jewels in-game. Other than those needed for quests, I'd sell them if you come across them.

You can make magical spiders with some of the gems (yes, really...).

Also good for leveling up blacksmithing by making rings and amulets.

jewelry smithing gives a pretty good exp jump. enchanting it jumps enchanting, makes it valuble and useful. then sell it or wear it getting 13-30 or more enchanting or smithing or archery etc. win win. and that skill bonus is x2. ring and necklace. get left hand ring mod.....
