Skyrim Special Edition's Survival Mode
EDIT: The update is now live. Feel free to keep posting issues and feedback here. We'll be checking in on this thread and the rest of the discussion. Thanks!

Skyrim Creation Club’s all-new Survival Mode, is now available on Steam beta. You can be one of the first to check it out by simply opting-into the beta.

Survival Mode adds new gameplay features and challenges to transform Skyrim into a land of unrelenting cold and harsh wilderness.

Instructions for how to opt-in to the beta are provided below. Before you do that, there are a few important details to note. We welcome your feedback and thoughts on what you’d like to see and any issues you run into. You are encouraged to let us know here on Steam or in our Official Beta Forums[bethesda.net].

Please Note: Once you opt-in to the Skyrim Creation Club beta, Survival Mode will no longer work if you back out. Additionally, we cannot accept any feedback or aid in any issues experienced if you opt-in to the beta with mods installed.

Last but not least, please be sure to back up your saves before opting in to the beta.

For more information on Survival Mode[bethesda.net], please see our post on Bethesda.net.

Instructions on how to access the beta:
  1. Log into Steam.
  2. Right Click on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition in your Library.
  3. Select Properties.
  4. Select Betas.
  5. A drop down menu will appear. Select the available beta option

Sounds cool! Too bad I can't play Skyrim for about another month. :falkwreath:

So this is like basic needs and frostfall already did add for like years now? Except for an added price tag, of course ^^ Well, to each his /her own I guess, just keep the CC away from the old Skyrim version ^^

Very slick.

'Creation Club will be officially launching for Skyrim SE soon. A beta is currently ongoing if you wish to try it out early.

For the duration of beta, the only creation available is Survival mode, which is detailed further in this article. Survival is freely available for the duration of the beta. Once Creation Club has officially launched, it will remain free to purchase on all platforms for one week. This is a sale, not a limited trial.'

UbiSoft here we come or welcome to Product Marketing 101.

Talk about sneaky/crafty if not downright dirty.

Classic stealth inducement. Bethesda have clearly sussed out the target lemmings (sorry, mean customer) group and what motivates them.

Well done Bethesda, I can see 10,000's falling for this nice bit of salesmanship. Whoever came up with this should get a bonus.

Respects.

I'm currently using this for Fallout 4
CCCleaner[www.nexusmods.com]
It removes the unwanted adware that got downloaded onto my computer without me knowing it until it was too late.

I sincerely hope that there will be one for Special Edition, since you collaborated with Steam to HIDE the old Skyrim from store searches. Therefore it is fair to say that we shall collaborate to REMOVE CC from our games!

Such shady practice in order to push, no, force your CC store into our single player experience will not go unchallenged.

I've felt like I have had to uninstall Skyrim SE because I wanted to protect it from getting CC advertising forced into it. It is feeling more and more like I may never go back to it again, but that depends on if the modding community survives the tainting of greed that's being smeared all over it right now.

I used to be a big fan of Bethesda. Which is why I'm so upset.

I really REALLY hope that Chesko is doing this mode for your Creation Club.
Because if he is not - well, I'm going to boycott all your games from this time onward. And I was looking forward for buying The Evil Within 2 on my PS4. Because it looks awesome.
But if you are screwing freelance modder off of his work... I'm going to vote with my wallet then. Though I'm not going to be very happy about it.

...
I doubt it. I think he's smarter than selling his work and property for loose change.

Has anyone tried the survival mode yet? I installed it but I can't find the option to activate it. I'm supposed to go into settings/gameplay and activate a toggle there, but I can't find it. Is it broken, or just blocked until I finish Helgen?

Not started by a quest like some of the FO4 CC microtransaction items?

Dont buy into this absolute scam, get it for free on nexus mod.
HanLi427 Sep 27, 2017 @ 10:32am
I certainly wouldn't pay for this, but it is available for free at the moment. I hope it will remain unlocked if I pick it up now, and not just for the beta.
But I will have to test and compare this with mods from nexus to see which I like most.

Seriously suspect it will not stay free and active once it is official released out of beta. Get that sort of impression reading between the lines of some of the official posts.

Just to clarify, once you download Survival Mode it's yours to keep. After the free week is over, it won't be deactivated if you downloaded it within that time.
