reverse bind the keys. left hand LMB, right hand RMB. This is how I play and have my controls setup.

Does the right hand attack/block then?

Are you dual wielding? You can't block when you are dual wielding.

Sometimes I duel wield, but sometimes I use daggers or one handed swords

So explain your weapon configuration that you are currently using which causes you not to be able to block.

Usually I use a bow or a greatsword. Currently using magic or one handed swords (started new game, have no bow yet). Combat buttons are M1 for left, M2 for right

Unless you are dual wielding, there is no reason to put your weapon in your left hand...especially since the right hand swings 10% faster.

When dual wielding, however, you want to put your faster weapon in your left hand since the swing speed is determined by the left hand.

The way you have it setup, if you mainly use 2h weapons and want to attack with the left button, you will need to revers the M1 and M2 buttons.

i.e. m1 will need to be right hand and m2 will need to be left hand.

This really annoys me after playing Wolfenstein: The New Order. There, one weapon (right hand) is m1 attack, two weapons is m1 left, m2 right. It switches. It's a tiny thing, but it feels so natural!

The new Wolfenstein game looks meh...looks the same.

I just noticed that if I wield a bow, it works fine after switching left & right buttons. But then I used a one handed mace & its doing the blocking thing again

Stop putting one hand weapons in your left hand.
