Lag after windows update?
So before the most recent windows update, could run the game fine at 60 fps, ultra quality, ~20 mods. After the windows update, when i launched my game, it re-detected my computers specs and reset it to low. Now all loading screens take about twice as long and the game runs at about 20 fps. Did this happen to anyone else? Any fixes? The windows update took me 50 minutes to install (Waste of a morning) so my assumption is that it changed something that made the game run slower.

Theres a bug where Windows sets things based on your on-board card not the GTX or whatever your better card is.

Try going to Settings on Windows
Then set off all the active options in Games
Worked for me

What do you mean? I checked everything in the "gaming" catagory and it was all already off, as far as I could see.

As follows, what I did was, Windows, Settings, Games, then if you are as I suppose on Windows10 you now have an option to make recordings take screenshots and display a "bar" that allows you to activate "Game Mode". Turn everything off and run Skyrim without all that off.
That game mode applies diferently from game to game. Some it enhances the performance and others it seems to reverse it. I've tried it on other games and it runs smooth but Skyrim doesn't, and I have GTX card like you.

If you have Geforce Experience installed go and optimize the game again. Then when you launch Skyrim go to Options and in the Detail board make Reset and the graphics should go to Ultra again...

I didnt have it installed, but I installed it and it worked. Thanks. Still not sure why this happened in the first place though, I blame the dwarven mudcrab armor.

EDIT: Still lags in fights with a lot of enimies at once, could probably fixed by lowering the quality tho

I don't know what happened.
Must be related to the mods you have installed.

Fixed it, it was the stupidest reason
The automatic windows update didn't install everything, there were some things in the "check for updates" section that had to be manually installed. I installed them and they worked fine. Had to click install, then check for updates to load more that hadnt been loaded, install those, repeat until no more showed up.

windows is best os

ok ty, i've been trying like every fix I can find and it seems like whenever it gets "Fixed" it can still play, but it sometimes crashes when I alt+tab. Not always, just sometimes. Then, it goes back to the thing where it won't launch, blah blah blah, it's still broken. Sometimes it "Fixes" itself, but still eventially crashes. Fix your game bethesda.
