Worked for me
That game mode applies diferently from game to game. Some it enhances the performance and others it seems to reverse it. I've tried it on other games and it runs smooth but Skyrim doesn't, and I have GTX card like you.
EDIT: Still lags in fights with a lot of enimies at once, could probably fixed by lowering the quality tho
Must be related to the mods you have installed.
The automatic windows update didn't install everything, there were some things in the "check for updates" section that had to be manually installed. I installed them and they worked fine. Had to click install, then check for updates to load more that hadnt been loaded, install those, repeat until no more showed up.
