Unique NPCs?
How many unique NPCs are there in Skyrim? DLCs included

I counted all of the listed unique NPCs at https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:People and some other pages there. All added by "Creation Club" were excluded. I am pretty shure that some NPCs are missing from that lists (for example, I had to search and include all named dragons, Sheogorath and Pelagius the Mad, named horses, etc.).

This number includes all uniquely named humans, elves, orcs, etc. It also includes uniquely named animals, dragons and daedra.

Here are numbers by categories. Please pay attention, that the total number of the listed below categories is greater than 1001. That is because many characters could be found in several places depending on quests, choices and actions of the player.

  • Dawnstar People: 39
  • Falkreath People: 31
  • Markarth People: 86
  • Morthal People: 18
  • Raven Rock People: 29
  • Riften People: 94
  • Solitude People: 82
  • Tel Mithryn People: 6
  • Whiterun People: 77
  • Windhelm People: 68
  • Winterhold People: 34
  • Dragon Bridge People: 11

I want an exact number like 1000? 500?
Docsprock Oct 18, 2017 @ 3:36pm
You will need to go count them. I would estimate there are well over 1000.

For instance: there are 80 npcs in Solitude, and 77 in Whiterun. (Including the surrounding farms).

Every single non-quest related NPC you see in Skyrim and Oblivion...have normal lives of their own. It's like a giant population of Sims...They're like normal people. They have affairs, they argue and fight each other, the play, flirt, laugh...etcetera etcetera . It's insanely simple how they did it, but the result is hugely intricate.

Here's a list of every named NPC in the game. DLC included: http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:People
Happy counting.
While the wikis try to list all the named NPCs, I wouldn't assume the lists are complete, even after all these years, there may be one or two who are still not listed.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I am pretty sure, that is because of my comment, that I posted and deleted (and posted again with proper formatting and recalculated information).

Yes, my post was in direct reply to yours.... I'll admit I didn't look at dates though.

The list is most likely finished, Uesp uses a tool called CSList to find information on stuff.
It is similar to the CS but made specifically for listing the data.
