NMM works just fine usually, to install manual, use 7zip to extract wherever (I use a folder on desktop, labeled Unzip} put the unziped file in Skyrim or SSE Data unless told other in ReadMe.

Impossible to say without knowing what mod you are trying and if you have any other mod installed that are incompatible with said mod. (usually it says so in the description).
Are you missing any dependancies? say skse64, fnis, useep etc.
Have you checked your load order?
And... is it an oldrim mod or a new/ported sse?

Is that the only mod you have?
And what seems to be the issue? Is your hair clipping through your helmet? Is Markarth banners brown instead of green? Does paper rolls glow in the dark? Are briarhearts missing their heart in their chests? etc etc.

And why do you want to manually install it? If you've downloaded it just point NMM to the 7z/zip file, activate and it should just install everything in the right place.

Would be super awesome to all information without needing to twist arms.

it doesnt work in the sense its not activated at all. i do it manually because i didnt have good experience with it back then and its still in beta till this day. in the original version of skyrim every time i added a mod myself it would work.

Need more information dude, help me help you.

Does it show up in the launcher?
Is it activated in the launcher?
Did you edit SkyrimPrefs.ini?

SkyMan Oct 14, 2017 @ 6:53pm
what launcher and no i did not edit any thing specially that skyrimprefs.ini
Tokfan Oct 14, 2017 @ 7:01pm
Oh right, that got removed. Sorry.
Does the mods show up ingame under Main Menu, then open the MODS menu, then press T to open the Load Order menu, then activate your mods from there.
It should show up there. Otherwise I'd advice to use NMM/Mod Organizer/Wrye Bash to keep clear of that creation club.

ok yeah i just figured what you said so basically you need to activate it in the mods menu. damn nobody really mentioned this. thats kind of lame. like bethesda really wants you to have an account for this game. back then you didnt really need an account. you just pop in the mod and its pretty much activated. anyways thanks for the help.

Still is, just hit that "install with nmm" button, then when it's done activate your 90+ mods in the order you want, switch them around in any load order you want. You can specify your download folders and virtual installs.
It also connects to the nexus and checks for updates to your mods (no downloading, just a '!' at the end of the mod file info alerting you that you can get an update.

Honestly, it's so smooth to add/remove/replace/update mods with it I feel there's no reason to muck about manually and play by bethesdas silly rules.

Way to go if you want to completely bork your game and end up posting in the forum that your game doesn't work.

Read the pinned topic, do what it says, using the tools that it says, and ignore the people who tell you otherwise (they either have no clue or are deliberately trying to give wrong info).

I take for granted that people are aware that removing mods in a save game should be avoided and a new game is highly recommended unless the mod dev gives explicit instructions on safe removal.
Care to elaborate why NMM is bad?
What exactly in my statement was bad advice?
