How do bedlam jobs work?

So delvin told me to steal 500 gold worth of items from Raven Rock and I've basically emptied all the houses by now and it still isn't enough apparently. Do I need to sell the items? Do I need to return to him when I think I have 500 gold worth of items?

From what I remember when I did the bedlam jobs in vanilla, all you had to do was steal things for 500 coin and when you got 500 worth it said 'Completed steal 500 worth of items in *****, Return to Delvin', so it should be doing that. Maybe its something to do with Raven Rock, cos when I did them I hadn't visited Solsthiem and was just giving me holds in the main game like Solitude or Whiterun. Maybe its a bug, maybe the unofficial patch (USSEP) has fixed it.

edit - remember the items need to have the red text 'Steal *whatever it is' when you hover over them. If it says 'take' then it doesn't count as stealing things.

As far as I am aware, Raven Rock one is bugged because there is no interior area to the city, as there is for every other thieves guild job location.
I say this from speculation because I could never get the Raven Rock one to complete.

Ah that makes sense, every other town when you leave a building it says "To windhelm" or "To Whiterun" etc but for raven rock it's like "To solstheim" Guess I'll go smack Delvin upside the head with the mace of Molag Bal and tell him to give this emissary of the Daedra a proper job!

You need the Unofficial Patch. Any quests for Delvin in Raven Rock will not work. With the patch, he will no longer give Raven Rock quests.

For those of us who have finished the game, or just really don't care, use the console to get uber legendary status for sneaking, lockpicking, and enchanting...you can literally strip people of there clothes and everything else while pickpocketing when your enchanted armor is powerful enough. Gloves and Boots can be increased by about 625%~1,256% respectively...kinda makes it fun to see how much loot you can slip away.

If you don't go that route, you can always head to Riften for easy pickings. Just make sure you have arcane gloves to increase pickpocket abilities and arcane boots that can increase your sneak level.

I wear full nightingale armor cause it's so far the best looking imo plus the only cheating I do is save scumming. Like when Delvin told me to steal a necklace from his brother (Yes he did give me that as a quest and it worked fine) I failed it three times being caught and just kept reloading a save made 3 seconds prior.

I abandoned the Bedlam job and took another one which was completed extremely quickly.
