Can't forge Iron Daggers (and I'm guessing other basic Skyrim forge options)?

For some reason "Iron Dagger" does not show up in the list of things to forge and the smithing options. I'm guessing a few weapon mods that add themselvs as smithing options are the culpret, but I have no idea how, why, and how to solve the problem without getting rid of those great added weapons.

Go to Whiterun...go to the smithery at the entrance and ask Adrianne Avenicci for some training. Follow her instructions and the option to create an iron dagger should appear. Also be sure to have all the materials needed to make an iron dagger.
