Sounds like a mod conflict to me....If you dont use mods then your only recourse is to load a save prior to your courier killing.

Couriers are supposed to be Essential, unless you've got the No Essential NPCs mod.

The dead Couriers you find in the vanilla game carry notes that point to some loot item - randomly-chosen item of randomly-chosen enchantment, guarded by a randomly-chosen monster in a randomly-chosen dungeon. These are the ones whom you often see that say "Important deliveries to make - no time for chatting".

I have no essential npc

but I also got a protection mod ontop of that
Which makes it so Only I can kill "essential npcs"

A bit redundant I know

I rezed one with commands and he's like I have a letter for you

and that was the end of it????

If they have a letter for you, then yeah that was the end of it. Probably an Inheritance because someone you're friends with died in whatever event that also killed the courier.

if you ask me, it sound like the no essential npc and the protection mods are conflicting, with the no essential npc mod winning, making all essential npcs become non-essential npcs, and with the couriers being level 1, something you can't see is killing the couriers.
Couriers tend not to spawn after you kill one, possibly the mod is causing the courier to spawn, but he's still dead.... Load a save from before you killed him or start a new game.

know, but you will have mods that conflict.
no essential npc is trying to remove the essential flag off all NPCs, and the protection mod is trying to try change the essential flag to an essential protection flag , but with the flag gone, the protection mod can't do a thing, as it isn't going to work.
Apart from being brilliant trackers, I honestly thought that Couriers were immortal?
