Where is the best house?
I have a ton of gold and I want a house (price isn't an issue) so where is the best house? Also I can make building materials at the forge. Can I build a house? and if so then how?

there´s a ton of mods out there on nexus - u find houses there from 20000 upwards :)

here is the link:

and, btw: the best playerhouse imo is for free, its in Riverwood and its name is "Leaf Rest One"

this house also works on SE, im using it since i own Skyrim SE.

ok so there are 2 houses that I know of that you can build you get to be a thane of morthal or falkreath then talk to the jarl or the jarls steward I cant remember which. Anyways you do that then you get a plot of land with a workbench on it and materials nearby in a chest. There is the start to your house. The rest is pretty simple to figure out.

u need to talk with the jarl of falkreath, its 5000 gold, and the location of the 3 available houses is simply the best for me.

u get a letter from a courier around level 10 or so, didnt remember.

The three Hearthfire homes may be built after aquiring the land. All three however are subject to attack from a variety of enemies.

The 'best' home is a matter of personal taste, but the most expensive is Proudspire Manor in Solitude. With all the trimmings it will run you nearly 40k.

IMO Elysium Estate(mod) is the best house, it's free too. If you don't want mods though then the Hearthfire houses are the best.
there a bunch of houses you can buy, and with stuff from Hearthfire you can build a few.

I kinda like the house in markoth. It has full amenities and is a nice layout, just a pain to get to without a mod to add a teleport marker

Hearthfire houses are good too. I tend to do a family one on the pale (bedrooms, kitchen, storage), and a display house at riverside (greenhouse, trophy room, armory) [if I build all of them to level smithing I put up a mage home at the last one with all the towers]
