I drank a potion of cure disease, and tried healing magic. Grass is still floating.

There are some mods that can cause that, due to wild edits. Best thing to do is to post your LOOT sorted load order. As to posting load order, just click on the 3 verticle dots in the upper right corner of LOOT screen, click on copy load order from the drop-down menu, and then paste.

Don't know if I'll be able to respond, am busy dealing with a bad tempered woman by the name of Irma, at the moment. And though she is visiting the other side of the state from me, you never know when things are going to start flying around like objects in Skyrim when you go over 60 FPS!

Yeah, mods can be really difficult to configure when you're high on grass. I totally get it.

So it was a mod. As often stated, you cannot remove mods mid-playthrough, so you will have to go back to a save made before you installed that mod - the information has been baked into the save and it cannot be removed - which is why you still have that problem even though the mod is no longer installed. If you do not have a save made prior to installing the mod, you will have to start a new game.

I removed it VERY long ago but somehow it moved itself over from normal skyrim to sse. I think i will have to look around in files again.....

Oh - that's totally different - Oldrim and SSE are two totally different games, completely independent of one another; what happens in one has absolutely no bearing on the other.

Can still be a mod causing it, so please post your load order. You can also try the following:
