Is there any way, cheaty or otherwise, to get rid of boethiah's calling, or other unwanted quests?
There's no ingame way to tell Boethiah what he can do with that sacrificial knife... So is there a command to at least get rid of (fail) the quest?

I'm a roleplayer. When I download mods, it's in the interest of improving roleplay in the game. So there is no way I am doing this quest. I don't care if it's a mercenary or a follower.

The UESP wiki has all the commands and quest codes. You can reset, advance or end quests.

Just ignore the quest. Quests cannot be removed, and to use the console to complete it (except when it is cited as necesssary due to a bug), is not recommended and is asking for trouble.

Quests are not mandatory - not even the main quest. Pick the ones you want to do and ignore the rest. As in real life, just because someone asks you do to do something, doean't mean you have to.

Again Quests are not mandatory, just don't do it if you don't want to.

If you use mods there's a useful one on Nexus called "Boethiah for Good guys" which means you don't have to sacrifice one of your followers, just some random cultist will be sacrified instead. I used it. Works fine.

The quest is worth doing if you want to get the Ebony Mail.

While not strictly good guy, a thing I like doing is getting the Ebony Blade, Join the Namira Coven(can be made a little less distasteful from an RP perspective by being a Vampire, Werewolf or a beast race), get Eola to follow me, ask her to wait outside the cave while I go back in and slay the entire cannibal cult, and finish it all off by sacrificing Eola to Boethia, ending the Skyrim chapter of that vile cult completely and getting the awesome ebony mail and some ebony blade charges while doing a small measure of good! lol
