Does Special Edition Run Better?
I've only got Oldrim and get drops to 40FPS sometimes in cities with an overclocked i5, I've heard that the new version runs better, can it be true or is it just a meme?

Thanks tbqh.

For me, it's true. I kept having stuttering problems and screen tearing with Skyrim, and could barely manage 45fps with everything on low in 1920x1080.

In the Special Edition, I'm running everything on ultra, and I get a constant 60fps. No drops or anything like that so far, even in cities!

what are your system specs and what settings did you run the old skyrim at? because if you struggle to run the game at low/medium settings, special edition isn't gonna run better. Even tho it's more stable, it's also more graphicaly demanding.

1440p, 1080Ti, 3570K at 4.7, 16GB of 1800Mhz RAM. I have some mods installed but nothing stupid. I think if I stand where the orc smith thing is in Markarth and look south I get like 50FPS.
ok, is this an attempt at a troll or what?

It runs better, yet the grass density is killing my computer

It most certainly runs better. They increased stability immensely, and increased efficiency too. My game loads faster and loading screens are too short to do much of anything, usually a second or two at most. Also there is a built-in character manager like in Fallout 4, so your saves are separated in the menu by character. Graphical glitches are at a minimum, like the flickering mountains. I've only seen it once in Newrim, and it was almost imperceptible. I also have an i5, but I've never overclocked it. I always figured it would reduce its life. Anyway, I don't know what FPS I am at usually, but I'm not having any lag.

Yet another school holiday waste of time thread.

Yes, definitely. But in some cases, that's not always true. Like if you have an old machine, the oldrim might run smoother as long as you don't use too much mods ofc, cuz if you do, then SE is always better.

It runs very well!

64 bit engine allows more mods too, because it can use more than 4 gigs of ram.

The new version has significantly higher requirements. If you're only getting 40 FPS in Oldrim you're not going to get better in the SE.

If you have the hardware to handle it, you can load it up with texture mods and higher resolution meshes than you ever could Oldrim - that's what it does better.

But running both games vanilla you're likely to get the same FPS at best, and worse is possible.

I find that it does run better.

i got skyrim SE to load and be somewhat playable on an actual potato (30 dollar tablet computer I bought @ 4th of july sale)

regular skyrim was unplayable and even low graphics for terrible computers couldnt get it going for me.

It's more complicated than that. And actually 60 fps makes a huge difference.
