how fast an SSD does a heavily modded game need?
I have no idea how fast mine is.I know the requirements can get pretty insane though with all the best testure mods, mods that add NPCs, but I imagine dyndolod would be the thing that needs SSd the most.

my current SSd only has near 50 gig free space, suppose I install skyrim to it and keep mod organizer in my ordinary hard drive? I imagine skyrim will take longer to start, but will it run as fast as it should after?
I use a usb3 external drive and its just has fast has my ssd

sounds like a pretty bad SSD. You realize that transferring things between drives can only go the same speed as whichever of the two is slower?

I have a Samsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5", and loading screens last for 0.1-0.5 seconds, I can barely see them before they dissapear again. I dont have any mods installed currently tho.

How fast a SSD should be for a heavily modded game? Doesn't matter. All will do, they're faster than any HDD. All that matters is which brand and what capacity you buy so you won't end up overpaying for a sh!t SSD. I recommend any SAMSUNG SSD's. Also Plextor has some really nice ones that are relatively cheap, depending on where you live. But there isn't a single game or app out there that actually NEEDS a SSD. They will reduce loading times since it can read and write data alot faster than a regular HDD but it doesn't really impact performance that much. (Unless your drive is always 90% filled or something then things will start to get slow, yeah.)

But If you currenly dont have a hdd and only have a floppy drive, then i think it would be very boring to have skyrim on 100 000 floppy disks and swap disks all the time. so upgrade your floppydrive with a harddrive or ssd.... :D

Don't defrag SSDs.

@Han I don't think thats how floppy disks or loading a game works.. In fact, I'm pretty sure it doesn't.

@Oden Who u see talking bout defraggin SSDs BOIII

Why get a ssd? they may be fast but they dont last long, only thing i can think for onr is recording youtube video's so you have to do less editing but even my hdd takes like barly even 3 seconds to load anywhere.

It doesn't need SSD. The only games that come to my mind that benefit from SSDs are id Tech games. Rage, Wolfenstein: The New Order, etc. And only if you set textures to 16k and vt_maxppf to 8+.
You can't mod Skyrim to the point where it'll exceed normal 7200rpm drive capabilities even if you install all possible 4k textures available.
And no, dyndolod doesn't require ssds either. I have installed Skyrim on both 850 Evo, and WD Black. Heavy modded game or not there is no difference in performance/texture pop-ins. The only difference is loading times. It will load faster for a few seconds on SSD.

Ive had no issues with my ssd for just over 2 years, some harddrives ive bought died within the first 2 years i owned them, so hdd's can also die... idk how long my ssd will last, but i assume by the time its dead, i likely need a bigger onee anyways.. =P

It's sad but most likely it will be alive long after you've died. https://www.compuram.de/blog/en/the-life-span-of-a-ssd-how-long-does-it-last-and-what-can-be-done-to-take-care/

If you buy modern ssd and it's not faulty from the beginning/you damage it by your actions then it will last you MINIMUM 10 years.
