what is a good amount of VRAM for a heavily modded skyrim?
Would nvidia 980 with 2gig vram be better than a 1080 with 1gb? Help me get my priorities straight

I intend to go as crazy as my 2k monitor will allow me, with all the 2k textures, enhanced terrain mods such as dynDOLOD, weather mods, magic, and mods to multiply all the citizens, enemies and guards like civil war and inconsequential NPCs.

Do you think 2G of VRAM will let me do all that at stable frame rate no lower than 50, or is that not even close to enough?

4 or more, believe me you'll need every single megabyte for a modded Skyrim.

You can play with 2 but you'll experience stuttering every now and then if you're using a lot of mods that add meshes and high quality textures.

There is no 1080 with 1gb VRAM lol, even the cheapest 10 serie's card (GTX 1050) doesnt have 1g VRAM but 2...

I just got a 1060 with 6GB VRAM and 16G RAM and a Ryzen 1600x and this system runs very smooth, I play Skyrim SE now on 2K monitor with many graphical mods and 2 ENB's and all settings on ultra, and the frames never go below 60 really. I wanted to get a 1070, but in my country they start at €600 + 2 month delivery time, because all these Miner dipsh*ts buy all these cards. But even a GTX 1050 TI (4gb) will do good enough to play this game maxed out, maybe not on 2K though, but I'm sure 2gig VRAM is not enough if you wanna play this game at 2K with mods (ENBs) and all settings maxed out. It's a pretty big map.

4 gb of VRAM is pretty much the standard these days, more would be better though. You can't really have enough of it, especially with Bethesda open world games. 1 GB is pretty much useless at this point in time.

4 GB VRAM seems fine. Had about a 150 mods installed, no stutter. Lots of texture stuff.

I have a 1070 with 8GB of Vram and it woks fine. But i got no mods yet for SE, so idk if its enough to mod. but i did run 150+ mods on origonal skyrim. (with Radeon HD 6970)
