HELP NMM "A problem occurred"
I've been trying to mod my Skyrim Special Edition with new graphics and armor mods, most of them have been working except for

SMIM
Realistic Water 2
K ENB Pure Light (No ENB's are working actually)
Hessian Sword
Enhanced Lights and FX
Blooded Heavy Armor

It just says "A problem occurred"

You don't install K ENB, nor any ENB presets through NMM. Those are usually done manually. As for the "A problem occurred" message, my guess is a very large mod file might not have properly DL'd. The likely culprit is possibly SMIM.

Try to delete SMIM from NMM, then re-DL it. Best to NOT touch anything while its DLing, don't even move from the DL screen, until its done. Very large files are very fickle and from past experience, even going out of the screen to browse the net while you wait can cause the file to not DL properly (very large files like over 300mb?). Once its done DLing, you can try to reinstall it into your game. It should work fine if everything goes well.

Rather than using ENBs I suggest trying Imaginator[www.nexusmods.com] to see if you can beautify the game to your liking with that. It has no noticable performance impact, and has a wide range of graphical options.

How exactly do I manually install the ENB? I also tried to reinstall SMIM and it still doesn't work.
Installing mods isn't this hard of the original Skyrim.

When installing SMIM make sure you tick correct boxes for your game in its popup window before activating it. If this set up is wrong it will not work or crash game.

I can't, it doesn't even have the popup window. I double click to install and it instantly says "A problem occurred"

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/6427/? <- K ENB Pure Light. The basic installation is actually written about...½ way down the mod page.

"Don't use Mods managers to install K ENB Pure Light, it can't work since NMM installs files in Skyrim's Data folder, not in main folder." - It actually says this right under the installation section.

Also, the current K ENB Pure Light seems to be made using the ENB 0.310 binary, so you must have that first - says it right here also on mod page -" Please download the ENB 0.310 binary first. Then download and install ReShade 3.0.5" If you don't have that installed... K ENB won't work, nor any ENB if you don't have the correct ENB version its based off from.

Edit: sorry, was on Oldrim Nexus instead of SE when posting reply, fixed for SE K ENB link and such.

Okay, thanks. But what about SMIM? Or all the other mods that say "A problem occurred"?
Can Skyrim SE just not run those yet?
PS: Irrelevant, but whenever I personally see Skyrim SE I think of Skyrim Script Extender. But I'm talking about Skyrim Special Edition.

Another issue. I'm following the installation guide right now, it says to open the download in notepad and change text. When I do that, I just get random symbols.

Okay. I've figured that out. But I still need information on the whole "A problem occurred"
