Main Quest glitch help, can't start At the Throat of the World even with console commands
I'll keep it straightforward. The quest simply refuses to start, even with console commands. I enter in setstage mq204 10 and nothing happens; no error message, no "QUEST STARTED" banner, no new dialogue options, nothing. I tried the console command on other saves in the character and on other characters, and it only works on the saves that I have from before I finished the Dawnguard DLC. Does anyone have any work arounds for this? I even tried the Nexusmod that supposedly corrects this issue ( http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/6896/? ) but it does not do anything. does anybody have any suggestions or workarounds? I'd rather not waste over 100+ hours of gameplay :/

All I can recommend is to move away from the area, fast travel somewhere, do another quest, then go back and see if that gets it working.

If you can't even start the quest with console something is either really glitched or you are not doing the command correctly. Check the quest stages here : http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:The_Throat_of_the_World

Something is really glitched. I tried setting to each of the different stages and nothing happens for the saves after the completion of A Blade in the Dark (turns out I did a whole bunch of MQs right after Dawnguard completion). Everything before the completion of The Horn of Jurgen Windcaller works however

That mod you linked to only removes the quest flag "Run Once". Which I guess can fix the game in case of a very rare glitch which happens when a high energy cosmic ray particle collides with your PC memory chip and flips the bit that marks quest MQ204 as already done.

A more likely cause is that one of the required aliases for quest MQ204 could not be filled for some reason, e.g. the bug with missing NPCs in Skyrim SE.

Happens some times - like that ridiculous smithing tutorial on a forge (in a city).
Load a previous save, fast travel somewhere (better get in a closed area, an Inn or something), wait there (take a sleep in the Inn), save, re-travel back to the mountain.

@GLsimtam I have no idea what that first part is. As for the second, the game files are fine, the quest is not bugged on other character saves and on the saves that come before the completion of "The Horn of Jurgen Windcaller".

@lupus_hegemonia I would be fine with loading a previous save where the quest works if it did not involve losing over 100 hours of gameplay.
Don't worry, Sunshinedobbs. I've started the game... about 20 times (and I was in 20-22 level, in each time)! If you... combined these levels with all these new starts... I would be... 400 level now!

I did it, because I'm doing a lot of modding, ruining the game, re-installing it, re-installing the mods... therefore, I need a clean start.

Anyways... -100 hrs lose is not big deal. The first time I re-started the game from the beginning, I was... 65 level - I had finished "Dawnguard", "Hearthsfire" & main quest's DLCs!!!!
And from this problem, you learned one BIG THING about Skyrim:

YOU NEVER EVER letting the game to do your job for you (SAVING)! You must DISABLE ALL auto saving and learn SAVING YOURSELF MANUALLY, very very often.

That's just the thing: I do save very often. problem is the glitch did not become apparent until much much later
