You can make a pretty convincing Viking look in Vanilla Skyrim. Don't forget the Nordic culture is heavily based on Norse culture anyway. If you want mods for it, I don't have any specific recommendations but if you use the keyword "Viking" on Nexus or any other thing for mods you could get some decent results.

Immersive Armors showcases a lot of Shields. Some spiky, some kite/tear drop shaped, oval body shields, round shields. They come with painted designs too and it is rather lore-friendly also. There's some Viking-esque stuff in there too, quite Lore-friendly too. Nord mail and some very Viking looking helms and chainmail. Some spiky gauntlets and Bear-hide outfits.. Troll hide too. Definitely wirth a look.

I think Hothtrooper44 aimed it at being as Lore-friendly as poss.


If you have the Dragonborn dlc (if I recall correctly) then you can make Nordic gear. It's not very Viking but Bethesda's take on some futuristic Viking type stuff. The swords are pretty good, featuring swirly carved paterns on them.

Just type in console:

help nordic 0

for the list, once you have the dlc.

vanilla skyrim shields dont look like anything the vikings did, the nord swords doesnt have the handles of the typical look of a real viking sword either..

the presets looks very much like scandinavians and all and the boat houses but weapons doesnt do me any good

You won't be disappointed. My ancestors are Viking, and I love this game for that reason. Immersive Armors gives me a good Viking hit.

have yet to find any relevant things to vikings in immersive armors other than a shield that was part of insanitys shields mod, im not sure if its worth holding onto if you just want some enhanced nordic feeling to the game..

Aww, that's a shame yeah. I'm messing with Blender, just in the early stages of moddeling and I will hopefully be doing some really Viking stuff but that won't be for a long time lol :)

the modder that made ragnars and lagerthas shields looks quite identical too but he missed a lot of details, looks a bit too much like rubber/ too clean in the game
