Skyrim SE and windows 7
I decided to jump into getting a modded skyrim SE. I ended up reading that Skyrim SE and windows 7 do not work together due to some kind of texture format incompatibility. The only place I see this being talked about is on Reddit.
Has anyone with windows 7 64 had any kind of experience with problems in getting mods to work due this?

Good to hear. I am loathe to download 100 gigs of mods only to find out I need windows 10. Also I just ran into this guide http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/2846/?tab=1&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrimspecialedition%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D2846%26preview%3D&pUp=1

Half way down the page it gives the same type warning of "Warning! If you are on WINDOWS 7, this entire guide is possibly INCOMPATIBLE. Jonwd7 and other have found that certain texture formats will crash DX11 games on Windows 7 . If you are on windows 8+ or 10, you dont need to worry about it."

I have yet to have SSE crash on me and I have 80 mods running, including texture mods.

Ok, I appreciate the response. I really do not think I want to go for something like a SRLE ++ type mod install anyhow. 80 should do me.

Actually just one issue. I have had some issue with getting the mods through bethesda in-game to stick. So i decided to use Nexus for all my mods and have had no issues thus far

Actually SSE is directX 11, and directX 11 games tend to play nicer on Win 7 than Win 10. Majority games right now are DirectX 11 with some support 12 but still natives to 11.

Windows 7 x64 here running Skyrim SE with 30 mods, including some mods from the original Skyrim. The game is running fine in general although it crashed 3 or 4 times only in a 200+ hours of gameplay. Also sometimes in certain locations I see quick white flashes when I move. Not sure if these are known problems with the game or only related to Windows 7. I'm interested to read those Reddit articles.

might also be those mods from the original skyrim. were they properly converted? did they have meshes or .bsa files?
