How am I supposed to locate Ralis?

I'm in Solstheim and I gave Ralis 11,000 gold to dig out the thing, I've searched this entire place for a way to get to him but the only thing I see is a trap door at the bottom that hasn't been officially dug out. What am I supposed to do?

I already did and it didn't help me. I just figured it out though, but I could have sworn the way I was supposed to go was closed off, guess I'm just stupid.

No, it is actually a pretty confusing place. Took me a while to figure it out, too.

Pretty much this. I realized i ended up forgetting some pieces of Ahzidal's Armor...now I have to go back and get whenever I feel like leaving skyrim

I collected all of the armor because it wouldn't feel right leaving it behind, though I only like the waterwalking boots, the coolest boots I've ever seen in skyrim
