Crash during The Cure For Madness
As playing through the Dark Brotherhood quest line, I encountered a very nasty bug.
My game always crashes when:
1. I start conversation with Cicero in the Dawnstar Sanctuary
2. I set the stage of the quest to "Report back to Astrid" and enter the main DB Sanctuary
3. I complete the quest via console
I'm using LOOT, and I verified came cache, it said one file was renewed, but still same crash. Please help me, because I already killed my Thieves Giuld quest line 'cause I wasn't aware of some bug, so I want to finish at least the Dark Brotherhood one.:steamsad:

Why were you using console commands to further the quest? Doing so can glitch the game. Better question is why did you need to use the setstage, what was happening to the quest that promted the need to do so?

I was using the console because I couldn't finish the quest due to the crash, so I tried finishing it this way.

Have you used console commands before this? There are very few that will harm the game, there are many more that can cause glitches. The only way to get passed them is by starting a new game.

What mods, if any, do you have? You should at least have the unofficial patch which does fix things in the game. There is also the achievements mod enabler that allows you to earn achievements. Have you run LOOT on your load order?
from the stickie for crashes

Skyrim SE keeps crashing!
Solution 1: If you are using mods, please make sure your mods aren't using any scripts and have reliance on other mods that uses scripts.

Solution 2: Don't forget, mod order is important and make sure you have all the mods which your mods rely on. For instance, some mods might sometimes rely on the unofficial skyrim patch and if you don't have it, it will crash. Try playing without mods first and see what happens.

Solution 3: Various people have reported that changing the Language helps prevent crashing. You can change the language in Skyrim.ini. If you have a foreign language OS it might not understand your computer so well, using an English or a supported language for your OS (as seen on the steam Skyrim SE store page) may be helpful.

Solution 4 (By BigDally): If Skyrim SE doesn't launch or crashes a lot try rebooting your computer. Rebooting is always a good first step because certain things may require a restart such as Vredist which is installed with Skyrim SE. Try restarting the game or at least Steam.

Solution 5 (By jesusleton): Try activating triple buffer in your nvidia control panel.

Solution 6: (By Captain5260): Try setting the priority level of SkyrimSE.exe to Real Time in Windows 10. To do this go to the Task Manager (ALT+CTRL+DEL) and find Skyrim. Right click and set prioirty to Real Time.
Not sure if any will help, it looks complicated, but this is all I have.

I'm a "pro" modder, already ported some mods from SKLE to SSE.
I have a highly modded game, 125 at the moment. Some of them are scripted, but the only one that affects the Dark Brotherhood is a retex for their armor. None affects the region around Dawnstar. USSEP and the Achievements enabler where the first two mods I installed. And can reading be so difficult? Of course I'm using LOOT regularly and I also wrote that in the post.
And I should have told before that have quite a knowledge about modding, so alexander_dougherty didn't tell me to do things I already did right after the crash happened.
The only method I know I didn't already use was disabling all my mods and try if one does this crash because
1. It's a highly annoying and time intensive procedure
2. My savegame relies on many of these mods and would become quite instable without them, so I try to avoid this

No one has an idea how to fix this?

Sorry, but that was all I could come up with, I did try googling the cure for madness, but no known bugs or solutions were listed, so that obvious list was ALL I had to offer.

If it was the old version, I could have offered you my crash pack, but apart from the link on how to validate your files and LOOT, none of it applies to SE.
Here is a copy anyway, maybe it something in it might help.

If you are experiencing problems that do not directly seem to point to mod conflicts, or if you are not certain, then validate your game files with cleared appcache folder. Instructions can be found from here:

3.Player manuals
  • Go to Steam client Library view and right click the game.
  • Click "View player manual." It will open the official player's manual in PDF form. This will cover all the basics.

5.2. LOOT
LOOT stands for Load Order Optimization Tool. This tool sorts your load order, according to mod data and exception master list. It is highly recommended that players use this tool, even when restricting to Workshop mods.

It's a pity you couldn't help me anymore, but I still want to thank you for your effort.
I decided now to continue playing the story, without finishing the DB questline.
But I'm still happy for ANY advice how I could fix this crash!
