Mod to build custom structures in Skyrim
This week I was excited to try the homestead part of Hearthfire for the first time, expecting I can actually draw and design the structure of my own house, yet it seems I was offered only pre-defined customizations to choose from for my Lakeview Manor. I was dissapointed because I was dreaming of building the tallest tower in Skyrim!

Are there any mods to allow me build truly custom structures in the game? Even choose my own location? I am hoping Elder Scrolls 6 will see that built in. Fallout 4 was a step in the right direction when it comes to building settlements.

My advice would be to learn how to use the construction set (available from bethesda.net). Otherwise, all you can do is scan player home mods until you find one close to what you wanted.

The best way to make a custom structure in Skyrim is to use the Creation Kit. It may take some practice, but you can make something truly unique.

Yeah I realize I can use the creation kit to build anything I desire in the game. I actually have a tiny experience with the CK changing Lydia's hair to one from the Apachii styles, but I was hoping for a mod to make the construction happen within the game itself.
If no mod exists, I may indeed invest some time learning how to place custom structures in the game world. The Jarls can't forbid me from building my desired tower!

Yeah, I hear ya there. I found a sweet spot for an excellent homestead that's large enough for a castle if I wanted to build that. But I'd settle for a nice estate home suited for the Dragonborn.
I've been through nexus and have found absolutely 0 mods that would place what I want, where I wanted it.
I have been hoping to learn the Creation Kit and find a way to implement it into the Hearthfire DLC so all I would need to do is build it as I would any other Hearthfire Home.

I have to agree with the Fallout 4 settlement building. I've been loving that.

I seem to remember there being some building mod on the Nexus. Though you've really got to use the Creation Kit, becuase you'll probably want to place idle spots for NPC's to do stuffs, and all the other goodies you can do with Creation Kit.

Also you can rebuild Helgen, the whole town, with this totally awesome mod

The bonus is you get a large tower player home, Im guessing you can tinker with it on creation kit too, for customizing and such.

The place I'd like to rebuild would be Winterhold. Restore it to it's former glory. (If that were possible).

It should be possible to make a mod similar to Fallout 4's Settlement Building thing, where you have chunks of walls, floors, and such to work with. However, that might also require serious reworking of vanilla Skyrim assets, since Fallout included "closed" meshes, while Skyrim's are typically cut up and left with gaps.

Not to mention they're really, really limited, especially the Dawnguard and Hearthfires stuff.

There is a mod called Home Design and Construction, but you get like 10 or 12 preset shapes, including a Dwemer tower, and it's somewhat tricky to use. As well, each home type automatically links to a preset cell, so no matter how many Dwemer towers you place in the world, they all lead to the same cell, and when you leave, it spits you out to wherever the first tower was placed.

As well it uses assets from other games, and the texturing in one may be better, while another looks like absolute crap.

There is a mod that rebuilds winterhold, you even get your own home. It's not a tower though.

Yeah Winterhold would be a great one to rebuild, with the Creation Kit you could use the existing mod that rebuilds it as a starting point, or a reference, and tweak it to your hearts desire.

To the other point about the Dwenmar doors in 'Home Design', you should be able to override what cell the doors exit to in creation kit right?
