the wall above the door to the dragonsreach isnt real, you can test this by taking a plate from the table, holding it in the air, and then shooting it into the wall up there with a lighting bolt

Im sure there are 'thousands' of such things. Why would the devs go through the trouble to put a collision mesh on an area that the player will never contact through normal play.

To elaborate on this - most 3D games don't use the rendered shape of the models you see for the purposes of calculating collisions. Instead, each object gets an additional and invisible collision model, which is usually a much simpler shape (meaning the physics engine has a lot less work to do).

Many objects will never be touched, and so don't need collision models at all. On the other hand, a lot of collision models are automatically generated, so you'll often find them in places where you'd expect developers to've been lazy, too.

Do you know how many MILLION glitches like these, they exists in Skyrim?

I had a look in game and in the Creation Kit. I had to "tcl" on, stand on a beam, "tcl" off and shout whirlwind sprint to look at it ingame. The wall is collidable perhaps you have a mod there, could even be lighting where the modder misclicked on the wall and changed something by mistake.

For what it is worth assets are collidable by default, nothing extra has to be added. To make it possible to pass through something that option has to be changed by a dev or modder. Collision planes etc do exist but aren't needed for walls etc such as that one.

the ones i hate are the fake boulders on cliffs. I like climbing on cliffs while exploring and a regular occurence is spots where you pass through a boulder and then get stuck because the other boulders are real. so you pass through one boulder, slide down the terrain slope and get wedged against the real boulders... no way out.

but yeah there is lots of stuff like this in Skyrim. i just take it to mean i'm doing stuff the devs didn't intend, and I like that, but those boulders I hate.
