I hate frostfall, and I hate that I hate it.
I'm trying to give the mod a chance, but it just isn't fun. I get punished for exploration, I get punished for swimming, I die while lighting fires, I can't get to the far north areas that I love because they're too cold, I can't wear my good armors because they don't provide cold protection, and outdoor areas with civilization are considered "Too cold" by the mod, causing me to pass out when I'm in them. On top of that, in ares where it snows, I happen to die pretty quickly, even while lighting fires to stop from dieing.

I'm trying to give it a chance, but it sucks having my relaxation time turn into the most stressful thing next to dark souls, and it puts me off playing this masterpiece.

Stop treating it like relaxation. The whole point of the mod is to create a punishing atmosphere. You just have to change your mindset about it.

Skyrim was meant to be relaxing to me. Frostfall just makes it stressful.

There is one thing I like, though. Passing out in the middle of nowhere, and waking up somewhere else. A little bit of wonder, there

it makes you have to rethink what kinds of gear to wear in different areas and makes you strategize your long trips a bit more i love playing frostfall with fast travel off. But if you want you can always take your fav gear and change the stats of what kind of warmth it gives you.

I've given it a try, I can see the appeal of a harder game to other people, but it doesn't appeal to me.

It appears it is safe to uninstall if I disable it in-game, then wait 30 seconds

Frostfall makes things really tough regarding the cold - you need warm clothes, the ability to get under cover fast (as well as build a fire), and just about totally forget about swimming in cold areas! In other words, it's just like real life.

But a game isn't real life, it's something to be played to escape from real life's stresses. So, if you're getting stressed by the game (in this case the mod Frostfall), it's not doing it's job. Just play without Frostfall installed and enjoy - because enjoyment should be the only reason you play a game.

One note of caution: because Skyrim bakes scripts into the saves, you cannot remove a mod mid playthrough. In original Skyrim, you could just disable Frostfall through the MCM menu, without removing the mod; this feature is not yet available in SSE (there being no SKSE, and therefore no SkyUI), so you would need to load a save from before you installed Frostfall, or start a new game.

If that is so, then you should be good to go - enjoy!

Thanks for your support. I just felt that I needed to keep it installed for some reason, and it was stressing me out.

There are three settings for Frstfall. The default is the Ice and Valor, there is one that is ess punishing. You may want to look at that one. Or just play with Campfire by itself for a while, that's what I did. I became familiar with how that worked, now Frostfall isn't so trying.

I tried these mods, but turns Skyrim to... survivor game than fantasy-epic RPG.
I removed them.

Thanks. Even Tomb Raider's survival made sense.

Truly... you're starting a FANTASY-EPIC RPG game (Skyrim)... Why to turned it to survivor? There are PLENTY survivor games to play.

(Soon, a "Conan" survivor game will be released - check it on YouTube. Play these, don't need to f*ck-up Skyrim. Skyrim has A LOT - superb - scenario, storyline, etc. THAT's what you're getting from the game; the survivor factor is not the primary one...).

@OP

I love survival games games myself, and love realistic additions / mods.

However I debated using Frostfall, and decided against it.

I know its a very popular mod, but it just seems completely out of scope for this game...there is a ton of content in the game, and adding something like this just seems like a new painful way to make everything take forever.

You get some immersion for the cost of annoying game mechanics to have to deal with that really dont bring anything interesting to the table...

Again I havent tried it, but it just seems like a bunch of sitting around a fire to warm up, travel a bit, make a new fire to warm up more...and carry multiple pairs of gear around.

Doesnt feel like a challenge so much as an annoyance.

As you travel you gain points towards Endurance which makes freezing slower. I'm not a fan of survival games either. Frostfall adds to a game where I was already trying to play as if I was really in a cold climate. I don't carry extra gear, other than the tents. After some time in the elements my warmth has improved, I'm now able to travel farther in the northern areas for a longer time.

Whether you use this mod or any other is your choice. It's all in how you want to play the game. I wanted something different and that's what Frostfall gives me. If you like to rush around, then Frostfall is not a good thing to use, if you want to take your time then it suits a purpose.

I disable it while I'm on a quest like killing the second dragon with Delphine.

Since most of my playthroughs I'm either a vampire or werewolf those mods don't really add much "immersion" to the game imho.

Can't imagine a vampire or a werewolf passing out from cold.
