Hearthstone starter quest.
I still haven't had the Hearthstone starter quest from Falkire. In every other character I've played on this game the quest usually starts at level 5-7. I'm now level 15 and still haven't had the starter quest from the courier. I've even been to see the Jarl and it hasn't started. Known bug or a new one?

You mean Hearthfires? You mean Falkreath? In that case, you just need to be level 5. If the Jarl hasn't sent you a letter, then why don't YOU go see the Jarl? Simple. All you need to do is one quest for him and he let's you buy the land.

But you need to do one quest for him first.

I did go to see him but he said 'I don't have anything for you'. And that was at level 10.

Sometimes the couriers won't appear for whatever reason. Anyway:

Hjallmarch (Morthal): Complete "Laid to Rest," the Jarl will allow you to purchase the land from the steward.

The Pale (Dawnstar): Complete "Waking Nightmare," the Jarl will sell you the plot personally.

Falkreath (Falkreath): Complete "Kill the Bandit Leader," the Jarl will give you the right to purchase from the steward. If Siddgeir is Jarl, you will have to do a "Rare Gifts" (bringing him a bottle of Blackbriar Mead) quest before he will give you the second quest.

I usually get Siddgeir the bottle of mead very early in the game. (There is a free one Ustengrav). Then buy the land around level 5 and start building.

Do you have the Unofficial patch installed? That could be the problem.

I know that bringing Siddgier a bottle of the Black Briar Mead is a quest, yet I've started this game twice and have not had to bring him his mead. All I had to do to get the right to purchase property was to kill a bandit leader.

If you want to get the acheivements there is the Achievement mod enabler as well.

The letter will never come if you start the Siddgier's quests before receiving it. There's no level restriction on when you can go do that.

After leaving Helgen, bum around the various dungeons until you hit level 10 and the Courier should bring it.

Otherwise, open the console and type help favor and see which one says Falkreath, then type sqs favorxxx (whatever the number is for Falkreath), and see which Stages are at 1. You may have to set it to Stage 10 for the "Talk to the Jarl of Falkreath" prompt.

I hate that quest for the simple fact that helping Valdr doesn't count, and there's no way to get a dog for Lod. I've tried bringing him Meeko (same da** dog!) and there's no way to bring him Barbas. No matter what you do, you can't "help" him, and that doesn't count towards the 3 people. At one time, buying lumber counted as helping, but I guess they broke that.

So now I bring Berit's Ashes to Runil, steal Lod's letter for Dengeir, and then setstage 20 in the console. I ain't chasing down Runil's journal or killing Dengeir's vampire grampa when I've already helped 4 people in the Hold. That's just a bug on Bethesda's part.

I chop wood for Hert, get Runil's journal, and pick gourds for Mathies.
