difference between "resisted" and "too powerful for"?
I've been using Fury/Frenzy for the majority of the game (comes in handy for dark brotherhood contracts), and I keep seeing the message "has resisted Frenzy". I could spam the spell over and over, and they keep resisting it. I went overboard with it and spammed it for a solid 15 minutes from a secure location, to no avail.

Then sometimes I see "is too powerful for Frenzy". I assume this is an outright 100% resist.

Is there a difference between the two?

i think it depends on your skill level and your char level

Some creatures like undead, daedra and automatons can resist illusion spells until you get the perk.

If you're getting a "is too powerful for Frenzy" it's due to the npc's level being higher than what the spell can be casted on. which happens more often the higher you level up since some npcs scale with you and stronger ones begin spawning.

That's the exact reason why there are higher level spells. It's far from useless.

Or you can get Dual Casting and spend some other perks and have Illusion spells affect up to level 75 or something. Also Courage and Rally should be cast on friendly NPCs and are never resisted.
