so this guy shows up in whiterun and says i call myself a wizard and insists on a challange. He vaps me is like 2 hits. My armour just got up to 300. Whats up. I cant tank him long enough to do anything. and he wont take no for an answer.

Well if you say no, and he attack you, guards should come to your help? Provided you can run out of LOS from him, you could survive I guess.

i have tried both ways, gaurds dont seem to care. BUT, i removed all mods reintered breezehome and came back out, than he was gone. I guess these challanges are part of the game? not sure how hard they are suppose to be.

Well... according to wiki they are part of the game, and apparently they can appear when you hit Adept in a school of magic. Personally I have only a faint memory of encountering one of them ONCE. :P

Met one yesterday at Kynesgrove. My in-game response was "it's your funeral" - and it was !

He uses magic to attack you, so your armor rating doesn't matter. Just jump back and forth to 'dodge' his spells or block with ward. He runs out magicka quickly with adept destruction spells like chain lightening, and then he instead uses mere firebolt of which the damage is very limited. I encounter him nearly every playthough since I always start as a wizard.

Armour rating means nothing when it comes to magic attacks, that only applies in melee combat. You should get into brewing some Resist potions in order to deal with magic users.

Don't understand why turn to guard whatsoever. Skyrim's guards only attack whoever that is hostile to them. So if a cave bear attacks a citizen but yet aggressive to guards, they'll stand there watching, saying 'this should be good'. Also sometimes they randomly become hostile to me while fighting something, even though I take no action at all. Guards are really more an abomination than anything else.
