That's the way its supposed to be anyway, Bethesda just missed off the material keyword to the weapon, the patch fixed it.
The same mistake was also done for the Mace of Molag Bal, Mehrunes Razor, Volendrung, Spellbreaker, Ebony Blade and Auriels Shield---all missing keywords so not able to improve them. The patch fixes those also.
BTW .. 2193 Hrs .. OMG !!
I think the argument is that you're not trying to melt it, you're trying to sharpen it. Either way, I'm with you, the blade is supposed to be untouchable. I stopped using the patch years ago due to the " too many " ambiguous changes it now makes - although I still recommend it to folk that don't have the ability to make their own patch or patches. Pity really, it started out with great intentions.
Currently, my "Dwanbreaker" has 72 damage, truly powerful sword, but because the BRIGHTNESS of it (even if you haven't draw it out), I'm not using it often - because I'm getting immediately detected by the sword's brightness...
It's such a beautiful looking sword that I want to use it - let's see how it goes !
Alot of that is modding though, I haven't even finished the main quest yet or started Dragonborn dlc.
Correct about the shield. Although Auriel's shield had the correct material keyword Elven, Bethesda set it to be tempered at the grinding wheel rather than the workbench table in the vanilla game, so the patch changed it to the workbench table. All the other ones are deadric items.
Obviously, if you're playing a lot sneaking, it's a problem (the brightness of this sword).
"1000 damage"...? Don't you making mistake? 1000 damage is way too much, even with cheat.
I think, when you moved to "Dragonborn" DLCs, the most difficult enemies are there, on that island (and the... "other side"/dimension, after you read the "Black Books")!
No wonder your bow isn't doing the business. Ugh.. I hate those lurkers :-)
That means either relying on unreliable scrolls, ineffectual shouts, or playing as a mage. Or playing as one of those jack of all trades type characters, which doesn't do anything for me.
Shouts don't help, atm, because although I'm lvl 50 on this current toon I haven't learned a single shout yet. ( I suppose I ought to get around to that, soon.) I don't mind getting beat up a bit by lurkers. If you don't get beat up how are you supposed to train your armor and blocking skills, But they beat me up a little too much for my liking. I'm hearing my heart beat once to often - lol.
Note: I don't pay for training in case that's suggested for training up my armor and block skills.
Edit: or any other skill for that matter.
