Controls Keep Resetting on Every Game Restart
Hi all,

I have a PS4 controller plugged into my PC to play Skyrim: Special Edition (just feels more natural to me considering I used to play Skyrim original on the PS3 all the time), but every time I open S:SE back up, I need to remap my controls back to my desired buttons before I can play again. It's become a huge heartache and it hasn't even been a day since I've done this.

Try Setting your Skyrim ini files to read only. Go to your C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME HERE\Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition, right click on Skyrim.ini and go to Properties. Click on the checkbox where it says READ ONLY and then OK. Do the same for SkyrimPrefs.ini.

Nope, that didn't work. Issue still persists.

did you ever get a fix for this? i have the exact same problem, and I have spent over 6 hours trying to solve it and no luck...

Additionally, it no longer recognizes the options button on the PS$ controller anymore so i cannot use the "wait' function in game. It worked fine a yesterday but all of a sudden it started doing this. No idea why...

Not sure if this problem is still relevant but figured I’d post what I did to fix it. I went the the local files and found a file titled something along the lines of “custom control mapping”. I deleted it and everything’s fine now.
