Help me break free from my wood elf alchemist archer
Can anyone recommend a new play approach to me after 300 hours?

My favorite so far is to be a wood elf alchemist archer who slowly gets drawn into the main plot. I tend to favor stealthy characters. Magic doesn't do much for me.

I've yet to play an Orc and have never used Battle Fury shout.

The only perks I've maxed before are alchemy, sneak and archery.

Never played a female character.

I was thinking either a totally ballistic Orc or a smooth-talking Imperial part-time assassin might be fun.

Nord Hunter. Because uh, skyrim belongs to the Nords.

No but really, theres actually a few different ways you can play this. I kind of do 3 different styles. Eagle, Bear, and Wolf. Eagle Hunter is a stealthy, long distance archery kind of character. You'll rely mostly on surprise attacks, and the element of surprise to escape situatuions. Bear Hunter is a heavy armored tank, who relies mainly on brute force to kill things. Finally, Wolf Hunter is a teamwork style of fighting. Light armor and light weapons, but you have companions to help. I like using the Dawnguard wolves as my companion for this. You could aslo hybrid it as a werewolf hunter, which is the same principle but you can use the Companions as allies.

I'll add that I like to play on Legendary, because that's when you'll see these builds really shine in their own way.

Like the Nord Hunter idea. Have never had a tank character. Thanks!

play a Khajitt female thief ?

If you didn't say you didn't like magic, I'd have told you to do an Argonian mage.

I did play a Khajitt once but not a thief. Is thieving fun? I just don't see myself being enthralled with a stolen spoon and plate collection. ;)

I don't like magic but maybe in the right combination it would be fun? Is it fun for you?

Pickpocket posioner. Play possibly an Argonian or Dark Elf, pickpocket people, no killing. Once trained high enough in pickpocket, start poisoning, If sick of alchemy then...

Nobody learns warhammer enough...Nuff said.

Try Illusion Mage, or restoration mage with a follower. Pick up your very own character in riverwood, sven's rival, and then use him plus restoration to keep going.

I wish we had a mod to turn these characters we make into ones in game every time we make them. Then fight ourselves like the Obsidian Warrior.

Ha, I just started a wood elf archer, trying to break free of playing as a dunmer mage. I also couldn't get into any magic the first 10 times playing the game, but I somehow grew to love it.

with apocalypse spells and ordinator perk overhaul, it actually becomes pretty fun, I usually focus on destruction, restoration and alteration, and try to get maxed out with conjugation but never make it too far. with the 2 mods I mentioned there is a pretty great variety of spells , and once you get to the adept level, they get pretty awesome and powerful

Thanks guys for some fun ideas. I think you've given me at least 200 more hours of play time.

Gotta hand it to Bethesda. I always find something new when I play through.

You should use the Skyrim Character Generator - http://hrpg.ca/test/gen.php

Get Character Creation Overhaul and just pick new skills you've never tried before, and if you go back to playing a stealth archer, there will be some major setbacks.

One of my favorite builds to play is a "paladin" type build, either with or without the paladin RP. Heavy Armor, Block, One-handed, Restoration would be your main skills. I also tend to use Alteration, Smithing, and sometimes Enchanting lightly. Since Speech is more or less leveled automatically, you could drop a few perks into that to fit with the charismatic leader of men (or mer) that the paladin type tends to be. It tends to be pretty tanky, and while you will end up killing slower you still shouldn't have too much of a problem with a tempered and enchanted weapon.

I usually only play on Adept, sometimes Expert, since I find that smacking damage sponges with a pool noodle to be infuriatingly boring.
