Forgot to Ask
My adopted kids usually asked for an allowance and at first I gave 25 gold pieces and later in the game raised it to 100 gold pieces and that is as much as I give them. One thing I noticed is that they tends to find and give me a better gift as their allowance increases, this cause me to wonder if they are stealing the stuff they "find". Since there are no complaints from venders or locals citizens of missing items, I put the possible stealing notion aside, thus I forget to ask how much do you give your kids for allowance and what's the best gift they have found and given you? Given the cost of rings and potions at vendors 100 gold doesn't buy much.

When I do bother to adopt kids, which is usually after both Alduin and Miraak are disposed of, I too give them 100 gold - along with all the other gifts. I always assumed they were buying me gifts with their allowances and now you got me thinking, too - lol :-)

Edit: whatever they do give me I just put in thier chest and don't really take any notice of what they give me. Nothing they've ever given me to date has ever impressed me enough to make a mental note of it. As far as I'm concerned they're just cluttering up my inventory at that stage of my game :D

I give them 100 gold, Mine were selling stuff before I adopted them, so I would just assume they were still working, making a bit of money themselves, and getting you the odd gift.

I'm more concerned with the dead bodies I find whenever I adopt kids and dont have anyone else at the house. Or the wild animals they adopt. Seriously I don't think I really need to go hunt dragons and bandits just give the brats a nice dagger and send them on their merry way.

"Can I keep him?"
"Isn't that Alduin?"

Agree with you, their gifts have little worth except for the minor health potions or maybe a ring to practice enchantment on

Did you give them explicit instructions not to travel while you're away for days on end? Hell, I still haven't worked out exactly who it is that's importing tomatoes - nobody grows them :D

Yes quite. How do you know they are not working for extra pocket money while you're away?

Also, most of the time, I give an allowance of about 100 quite often but their gifts are infrequent and could be accounted for by them saving for it.

the thing that makes me laugh is when you give them a present or the allowance when they ask. But you still get the "gift of charity" buff. I have more gold than I know what to do with so for a laugh, I gave one of my kids 1000 gold and got the reply, "No way! I could buy the whole market with this."
They're the children of a well-known individual. Clearly they are showered in coin and gifts out of respect/fear.

Heh.. yep. We tend to forget about and overlook that particular part and aspect of society at times, at least those of us that do not subscribe to the idea of sucking up to others. Good point, Dylan. See what I did there? :-)

Once a daughter left me sabre cat tooth, eye, and pelt. That REALLY shocked me

My two are so fierce with thier Daedric daggers it's a wonder the practice dummy is still in one piece. I wouldn't be surprised if they could take down a Sabre Cat with just wooden swords - given that they're essentially unkillable without mods. :D

Edit: It's pretty crazy, huh, and I am sat here grinning like an idiot.
