are you using any texture replacers for characters? if you are the textures your using may not have vampire textures included and you may have to make them yourself which is easy just takes renaming some dds body files, you won't get some the vampire face features by doing this but it will get rid of the black face i would reccomend tempered skins for males and females they include all the vampire stuff and the male textures are really superb the females need a bit of work still but ther pretty good.

I'm not sure there's a way around this - essentially, changing her to a vampire changes her race (from nord to nordvampire), and thus she's changed enough to need new facegen files, but that would have to be done via CK and given you have changed her race in-game rather than via CK, I'm not sure how you'd go about it.

Follow up - interesting, just found this, see top comment: https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/comments/2dl8pz/im_using_better_vampires_mod_and_the_head_of/ So, it looks as though AFT by itself shouldn't cause this issue as it does not actually change their race, just gives them glowy eyes and new abilities. Is this definitely Amazing Follower Tweaks and not Immersive Amazing Follower Tweaks (I used IAFT to try changing a follower to vampire recently and it definitely changed the race/appearance, so it's possible it handles it differently to AFT), and do you have Better Vampires as well?

i dont have better vampire, should i try to instal that?

No, if you read the link, it looks like normally AFT doesn't change the race (which is what I was assuming would cause the grey face) but Better Vampires does, however it's possible that the version of AFT you're using (I think there are two for SSE, not sure if they have different functions) does change this (or all versions of AFT/iAFT do).

To be honest, I think you're better off not making Lydia a vampire, I don't think there's anything that can be done to solve the grey face thing as changing her race counts as changing her appearance and doing that requires new facegendata files.

well i mean the grey face bug and black texture bug are 2 dif things with the black face bug that usually indicates memory issues which shouldn't be happening to you with skyrim se or it indicates missing or nonexistant textures which may mean he has no vampire textures for the textures he/she is using and if your missing mesh files for textures that usually ends up with purple looking textures.
